Chapter 82

Loa's Meal, Part 2

The Reincarnated Young Girl Is Adored by the Spirits She Helped in Her Previous Life :

I stuff the eggs into my pocket and return to Loa.

“Breaking eggs is pretty tricky, you know.”

But since I’m a dignified five-year-old, I can break eggs just fine.
While I tap the pointed end of the egg against the hard edge of the bed, Da-u comes over.

“Woof~?”

Da-u is essentially saying, “Leave it to me if you mess up.”
If the egg were to fall and break on the floor, Da-u would promptly lick it up, erasing all evidence.

“Alright, just in case, I’ll count on you, okay?”
“Woof!”

Da-u looks eager, drooling at the mouth.

“…Da-u, do you want some too?”
“Woof?”

Da-u denies it, but he definitely looks like he wants some.

“Hmm? Did I crack it well?”
“Woof…”

I managed to only crack the pointed tip of the egg. Da-u looked a little disappointed.

“Da-u, want one too?”
“Woof, woof.”

Da-u tells me to give it to Loa. Even though Da-u is still young, he’s such a kind dog.

“Alright, if there’s any left later, okay?”

I go back to Loa and bring the cracked egg close to Loa’s mouth.

“Loa, here’s an egg.”
“Rya? Rya-munya-munya.”

Loa takes the egg in her hands and starts licking it, her face halfway buried in it.

“Looks like Loa likes eggs,” says Sara, holding Loa.

“Yeah, she’s really into it.”

Suddenly, Loa, who was happily eating the egg, freezes.

“What’s wrong?”
“Ryam?”

Loa holds the egg out to Da-u. She seems to be saying, “It’s delicious; you should have some too.”

“Woof… woof?”

It’s no wonder Da-u is surprised.

Loa is a hungry baby, and she especially loves eggs.
And yet, she’s offering some to Da-u.

She must’ve noticed earlier that Da-u likes eggs too.

“Loa, it’s okay. There’s still more eggs.”
“Ryaa?”
“See?”

I take more eggs out of my pocket.

“There are three more. These are for you, Loa.”
“Ryamu~”
“Da-u can eat this one. Da-u, if you don’t eat, Loa might feel bad about eating alone.”
“Woof!”

Da-u happily takes an egg in his mouth and crunches it up, shell and all.

“Whoa, Da-u, you eat the shell too?”
Sara seems a bit taken aback.

“Woof?”
Da-u seems to be saying, “The shell tastes good too, you know?”

After that, Loa continued to eat her meal voraciously.

Once she finished eating, Loa let out a little burp and toddled over to the window, staring intently at the lake.

“Since yesterday… has Loa been curious about the lake?”

Whenever Loa moves to the window wanting to go outside, she’s always gazing at the lake.
I move to the window and pick her up.

“Ryaa…”

After looking at the lake with a sorrowful cry, Loa clings tightly to me.
There really is something unsettling about that lake.

“Yeah, I feel like something is coming from the lake.”
“Luria , something? Like, what exactly?”
“I don’t know. It’s hard to put into words.”
“I’ll ask the goats later, just in case…”
“Please do. It’s been on my mind.”

After crying for a bit, Loa eventually falls asleep peacefully.

“She must’ve gotten sleepy after eating so much,” Sara says.
“Yeah, she’s so cute. Hehe.”

I lay Loa down on the bed and cover her with a blanket.

I store the leftover food in the cupboard.
There are still about half of the caterpillars left. That should be enough for lunch.

With Loa asleep, the birds seem relieved and fly off.
Sara, Da-u, Carro, Koruko, Kuro, and I all laze about on the bed.

After lounging for a while, I start to feel drowsy. It’s probably because we moved around so much earlier.

Perhaps about thirty minutes later, I wake up to the sound of a maid’s voice from outside the room.
“Young ladies, breakfast is ready.”

“Hmm? Oh! I’ll get up right away!”

I jump out of bed.

“I’ll wake Sara and bring her along, so go on ahead.”
“Understood.”

After making sure the maid has left, I start waking everyone up.

“Loa, Luria  and the others are going to eat breakfast.”
“Ryamu.”
“Can you stay home alone?”
“Ryaa~”
“It’s fine. I’ll definitely come back. Kuro, can I count on you?”

I also ask Kuro to reassure Loa.

“Leave it to me. Loa, Lady Luria  will only be gone for a short while, so don’t worry.”
“Ryamu~?”
“Lady Luria  is just going to eat breakfast. If she doesn’t, she’ll get hungry.”
“Rya!”
“Can you wait here?”
“Ryaa~”
“She says she can do it.”

Kuro gently pats Loa.

“Loa, just wait a little, okay?”
“Rya.”
“Kuro, Koruko, Carro… I’m counting on you to look after Loa.”

I can’t leave just Kuro to babysit Loa.
Kuro is reliable, but he doesn’t have a physical body.

“Chirp, chirp.”
“I’ll bring your food back later, Koruko and Carro.”
“Chirp, chirp.”
“If anyone comes, Loa, you should hide in the cupboard.”
“Ryaa,” chirped the birds in agreement.

I leave the cupboard slightly open so Loa can hide inside. If she does, Carro and Koruko can close it for her.

“I’ll leave the window open, just in case.”

If the window’s open, the owls can help out in an emergency.’
