Traveling alone is often said to be quite difficult.
However, for someone like me who can use Inventory, the journey isn’t all that tough.
I don’t need to worry about restocking food, and I can conjure fire and water using magic.
Once I passed through the forest, the path was simply a well-trodden road, making it not too strenuous.
I first went to a town called Rumoi, where I came to a painful realization.
—In order to survive in this world, I need something that demonstrates my status.
Even when trying to find a place to stay in a village, I was hardly welcomed just because I was a drifter without any identification.
Moreover, entering Rumoi involved a rigorous body check and an exorbitant toll.
Being subjected to such things every time I visit a town is unbearable.
Not wanting to be tied down by family ties, I had no intention of using the name of the Viscount Belzeart.
That left me with the option of becoming an adventurer to obtain a guild card as identification.
Adventurers in this world are, simply put, jack-of-all-trades who do anything, including dangerous work.
However, their main tasks are hunting monsters and collecting materials related to that.
Ignoring the rules that say competing among fellow adventurers is often pointless, I decided to continue heading east.
I only wanted an identification card, so I didn’t intend to take on many requests.
Still, there seem to be penalties for not completing requests while using the card, so I continued my journey, selling whatever materials I had in Inventory that coincided with requests to earn some money.
After mostly just liquidating my stock, I managed to raise my rank to E and continued my slow journey for about three months, fighting thieves for practice in combat along the way.
Finally, I was able to reach Beglatia, the capital of the Sutherland Barony.
“Beglatia… What a big town.”
Having grown accustomed to traveling, I was now fully geared for my journey.
I wore a robe coated with wax to repel water, a hefty backpack on my back, and a short wand at my waist for easy access.
By the way, the wand was purely for show.
The wand held by a mage allows for a smoother flow of magic than through a human body, aiding in the casting of spells.
However, since I had been using magic continuously until my own magic was nearly depleted, my body’s magical flow was frankly incomparable to any ordinary wand, making it useless.
Yet, walking around empty-handed often leads to being underestimated, so I dressed like a magician.
“If it’s here…”
At first, I had no specific destination, but at some point, I developed a clear objective for coming to Beglatia.
My goal was simply… to seek teachings from someone capable of using advanced magic or higher.
During my activities as an adventurer, I came to realize that my magic was quite unusual.
One odd thing was that I didn’t need a casting aid like a wand.
Moreover, my magic had been uniquely modified to the point that it had become completely different from that of other mages.
However, the biggest problem was the common belief in this world that magic is cast through incantations.
The magic I had been practicing self-taught was fundamentally cast without any chant, activating simply by reciting the spell name in my mind.
The no-incantation technique seems to have become a rare and specialized skill in modern times, making it difficult to casually demonstrate my magic to others.
By the way, it’s not just the no-incantation that’s exceptional.
For instance, I can divide Fireball into three types: regular flame, white flame, and blue flame, and thanks to knowing a high-pressure water jet cutter, I can use a water blade, something that ordinary mages can’t manage.
Also, Inventory is quite remarkable.
Few people in this world possess the aptitude for spatial magic, and even if they do, they can only manage the beginner-level spatial magic known as Item Box.
A simple Item Box can only hold small items, while my modified Inventory can accommodate things freely.
All of my magical knowledge is equivalent to intermediate-level spells.
By adding a modern Japanese perspective and making modifications, I’ve shaped them to function as advanced magic.
I never imagined that after becoming stronger to avoid being defeated, the uniqueness of that process would leave me isolated.
When I left home, I never thought things would turn out this way…
In such a restrictive situation, I’ve hardly been able to act alongside anyone else.
Since I hadn’t been staying long in any single town while heading towards a big city, I hadn’t formed close friendships with anyone.
The loneliness I felt since leaving home has only increased day by day.
They say people get used to solitude, but that’s a lie.
I feel like I could never get used to this, no matter how much time passes.
Back to the topic.
I plan to stay in Beglatia for a while and search for a magic teacher.
After all, this city is rumored to have the most advanced magical technology in the Lark Kingdom.
If possible, I want to receive magical guidance from someone capable of using advanced magic or higher.
My magical modifications can be equivalent to about one rank up.
If I learn advanced magic, I could reach imperial-level, and if I grasp imperial magic, I could attain extreme-level, and once I could use extreme-level magic… Well, I’ll stop there.
No matter how much I inflate my fantasies, it’s pointless without practical application.
As I entered Beglatia, taking in a deep breath, I was quickly met with disappointment and disillusionment within just a day—.
