Chapter 76

The Possibility of Transformation

The day for the martial arts tournament and the magic tournament had arrived.

As per tradition, the martial arts and magic tournaments would alternate each day.

Today, the opening ceremony and the first round of the martial arts tournament would take place. I was scheduled to participate in the magic tournament.

Once the head teacher of the grade finished his greeting, we next listened to the head instructor of the knight department’s instructions.

Why do the teachers’ speeches always seem so long, I wonder?

“—Now, let the first round of the preliminaries begin. The participants for the first match, please proceed to the arena.”

The instructor from the knight department would act as the referee. Between the referee, commoners and lower-ranked noble students faced off.

The preliminaries would have three rounds, and even here, there would be differences based on the noble’s rank.

In the first round of the preliminaries, commoners and lower-ranked nobles would compete. In the second round, the winners from the first round would face middle-ranking nobles, and in the third round, the winners from the second round would face upper-ranking nobles.

However, this only applied to first-year students; for second-year students, it seemed that seeding would depend on the results from their first year.

The first and second rounds of the preliminaries for both the martial arts and magic tournaments were scheduled to take two days each. The third round would take one day, and the main tournament would take two days. It was going to be quite a long tournament.

Also, there was a time limit for the first and second rounds. Once the hourglass (about ten minutes) ran out, the match would end, and if there was no clear victor, both would be disqualified.

The issue with “clear superiority” was tricky. Even if a commoner seemed slightly superior, it was often the case that the noble would pass through the preliminaries.

So, for a commoner to progress, they would need to make sure they secured a definite result.

No one in the academy thought that titles of nobility didn’t matter. If a commoner wanted to survive, they would have to work harder than anyone else.

It was not enjoyable to watch disqualified matches or those where the results seemed clearly influenced by favoritism, so I decided to leave early.

Since my first match in the magic tournament would be in the third round, I decided to spend my time at the mansion until then.

Recently, I’ve been thinking: Am I really making full use of my transformation abilities?

Here’s my current status:

Name: Toma  Bard Roxfall
Species: Demi-God (Human/God)
Gender: Male
Age: 11
Title: Marquis of the Kingdom of Kurudia
Health Status: Healthy
Title: Apostle of the God of Creation, Deuro
Rank: G
Affinity: God
Blessing: God of Transformation
Level: 275
Skills: Transformation – Level 6
Life: 105,860
Stamina: 106,543 (-2,550)
Mana: 108,413

At level 250, my transformation skill reached level 6, and by level 269, my mana exceeded 100,000.

Transformation – Level 6:
Allows for the conversion of space, enabling the use of a different space as a warehouse (other-dimensional warehouse).

At Level 6 of Transformation, I could now use it similarly to an item box or storage. However, time passes normally, and living creatures cannot be stored in the other-dimensional warehouse. Additionally, capacity seems to depend on stamina, with the negative number in parentheses reflecting the weight of the items stored (in kilograms). In other words, I can currently store items weighing just over 100 tons.

At level 150, I could transform into precious metals and gemstones. Although living creatures cannot be transformed, most things that aren’t biological seem transformable.

Previously, I couldn’t directly transform the King of Horses, but I found I could now. I could also directly transform other things like Affelpopp and medicinal wines without issue.

Since the medicinal wine is a specialty of the Ashwood territory, I wouldn’t typically transform it, but it was a nice discovery.

Additionally, I could now directly transform light-gathering lamps.

I noticed the equipment I always use for dungeon exploration.

There are magic tools in the world. Could I make one of these myself?

I picked up a dagger I use for bloodletting. Could I add a special effect to it?

“Special effects… well, I guess an increase in sharpness would be ideal.”

As a marquis, I use a fairly expensive dagger. I’ve heard it was made in the workshop of a renowned artisan.

It would be interesting if I could turn this into a magic sword.

I also prepared a mid-level magic stone and a diamond.

The magic stone seemed like it might help make it easier to turn the dagger into a magic sword. I thought the diamond might increase its durability.

—Transformation!—

A fair amount of mana was consumed. The appearance changed… and it’s… slightly glowing?

The shape didn’t change, but it seemed to emit a soft light.

Dismantling Sword:
A dagger made by the Apostle of Deuro, Toma . It can easily dismantle any monster, and the quality of materials obtained after dismantling is improved.

“…”

I think I’ve made something good. I’ll have to test it out by dismantling something and seeing how it feels.

Also, the “Dismantling Sword” is faintly glowing. If the glow were stronger, it could serve as a flashlight. Wait, no! If it’s glowing, Ben and Shamy might start saying something about it…

I also tried transforming other equipment.

Since my armor and sword were made of mithril, they ended up being better than the dagger. But I considered it a charming mistake.

Toma  Armor:
Armor made for the Apostle of Deuro, Toma . It reduces physical and magical damage by 90%, nullifies mental attacks and curses, and despite its heavy appearance, it feels weightless and doesn’t obstruct movement or vision.

When I transformed my headgear and chestplate, the entire set became a full plate mail armor.

This armor glows even more than the dismantling sword…

Toma  Sword:
A sword made for the Apostle of Deuro, Toma . Its size and shape can change freely according to Toma ’s will. It boasts overwhelming sharpness.

Lightning Toma  Bow:
A bow made for the Apostle of Deuro, Toma . It consumes mana to generate lightning arrows. Arrows fired will always hit their target, and anything struck by the arrow will be scorched by high-voltage lightning.

“Uhh… maybe I overdid it?”

No, this is the power I wanted!

With this equipment, dungeon exploration should be a lot easier.

But, while it was originally silver, it now has a platinum-like glow, making it even more ostentatious.

“Oh no… I can’t use this in the magic tournament.”

Since it’s no longer suitable for fighting against students, I decided to prepare another set of equipment.

Of course, I toned this one down.

I used the armor, sword, and bow of the knights from the Roxfall  family as the materials.

Light Armor:
A lightweight full metal armor that doesn’t obstruct movement. It consumes 10 mana per minute to generate a defensive barrier.

Light Sword:
A sword that’s perfectly weighted for its user. It consumes 50 mana to unleash a sword slash. Anyone touched by the slash will fall unconscious, but won’t take damage.

Light Bow:
A bow that consumes 50 mana to shoot a lightning arrow. Anyone struck by the arrow will be paralyzed but won’t take damage.

Did I really tone it down? I mean, I did, right? I swear I did! At least it doesn’t glow!

Also, the naming sense… even though I was thinking of lightness, I could have come up with better names…
