I Like Villains, so I Reincarnated as One
After the magical training session, it’s time to stare at documents. At first, I thought it would be an easy job—just stamping the papers that come my way. But it turns out that’s not the case.
It seems that I haven’t been checking things properly until now, as there are quite a few ledgers with outrageous expenses and sloppy reports. They’re definitely taking me for a fool… While Weiss is struggling with unfamiliar work, they’re messing around.
Too bad for them. Thanks to my compulsory education and gaming experience, I can easily spot what’s wrong.
“Alright, revise this report and submit it by tomorrow.”
“Y-yes, understood!”
I immediately scolded the guy who submitted such a careless document. Right now, he’s probably racking his brains to fix the inconsistencies in the report. While thinking about that, I use my shadow magic to pick up a stack of new documents piled up in the distance.
By the way, it’s not that I’m too lazy to walk. Rosalia and the others don’t seem to know this, but in Valhalla Tactics, the more you use magic, the more experience you gain. That’s why I deliberately use it in my daily life.
In the game, magic was only used in battles, but using it in everyday life has unexpected applications and is quite fun. Plus, since I’ve seen a lot of dark magic in games, it’s easy to visualize once I’ve used it. That said, my mana isn’t infinite.
“Man, this tastes awful… Maybe it’s time to eat some proper food.”
I drink a bland mana recovery potion that feels like muddy water and rings a bell. Shortly after, there’s a knock, and a maid enters carrying a silver tray with bread, ham, and vegetables—basically, a sandwich. Since this food didn’t exist in this world, I requested it to be made.
Rosalia seems to be busy, so Meg, the chestnut-haired maid who was badmouthing me when I woke up, is the one who shows up.
“Lord Weiss… Pardon me. I’ve brought your meal.”
Her voice is trembling, and it’s not my imagination. Though she’s forcing a smile, the emotion in her eyes is fear. Weiss must have been quite harsh… I try to reassure her with a smile as I speak.
“Thank you, I’ll take it now.”
“Eek!”
With that scream, she flinches and drops the tray, spilling coffee on her apron. Oh no, I accidentally used my shadow hands.
“I’m so sorry!! Please forgive me!”
“No, it’s my fault. I accidentally used magic. I startled you, didn’t I? Are you okay? Don’t worry about the food, go change and check if you’re burned. I’ll get the food myself.”
I quickly stand up and rush over to her, offering a handkerchief. It was hot coffee, but hopefully, she’s okay.
However, she doesn’t take the handkerchief and just stares at it with a look of disbelief. Huh? Should I wipe it for her? But wouldn’t that be harassment?
“Lord Weiss…?”
“Yeah? What’s wrong?”
“Nothing, I just thought you’d yell at me or something.”
“Why would I do that…? More importantly, are you okay? No burns?”
At my words, she looks puzzled. It was clearly my fault this time… Magic can be a weapon, so most people don’t use it so casually in daily life.
“Um… thank you for your concern. I’ll go change just in case… What about your meal…?”
“Since I’m already up, I’ll go get it myself. Once you’ve changed, go back to your usual duties.”
“Yes, understood!! And… thank you for worrying about me.”
With that, she quickly leaves. For some reason, her steps seem a bit lighter. I watch her go and stretch my body. Well, I’ve been sitting for a while, so this is a good break.
“Lord Weiss… you’ve really changed…”
I think I heard her mutter something, but I couldn’t catch it clearly. Later that night, when I casually check my status, I notice that the “People’s Loyalty” stat has somehow risen to 11. What happened?
