“Wow, this is delicious!”
Minoha joined them for dinner as well.
“Yeah, it’s really good,” Kentarou agreed.
“Yes, it’s a recipe from Akebono-ya, a long-established inn in Kyoto,” the woman said. Her mind contains knowledge from every conceivable field on Earth.
“Hmm, it’s different from the usual seasoning for oyakodon, but it’s gentle and rich in flavor,” Minoha commented.
“Are you a chef, miss?” Minoha, unaware of the situation, asked.
“No, I’m just an insignificant salesperson. I do hold a Level 1 Parallel World Administrator certification, though.”
“Wow, that sounds like a tough qualification. You must be really smart. Is that what they call being part of the elite?” Minoha, a university student who admired any qualification with the suffix “-shi,” remarked.
“I just crammed a lot of knowledge. Besides, I’ve been let go by the company now.”
“What?! You mean you were fired? That’s tough,” Minoha said.
“Does unemployment insurance help with that sort of thing?” she asked sympathetically.
“There’s no such thing for me.”
“What?! That place must’ve been a nightmare. It’s a good thing you cut ties with them,” Minoha said with relief.
“It’s not that simple. I’ve had my time machine and four-dimensional pocket confiscated,” the woman explained.
“Oh… I see. Is that how it is?” Minoha responded, puzzled.
Kentaro couldn’t help but laugh at the mismatched and nonsensical conversation.
“Minoha, I have a favor to ask.”
“What is it?”
“Nyai-san doesn’t have anywhere to stay tonight. I was thinking of letting her stay at my place, but my parents went on a trip without telling me. So, I was wondering if it’d be a problem if she stayed at your place?”
“That’s a no-go! My little brother has a bunch of friends over for a sleepover. I don’t even have anywhere to go myself. I was just planning to borrow a DVD and hole up in my room. I can’t even take my turn in the bath,” Minoha explained.
“I see.”
“Oh, then let me stay at your place, Kentarou.”
“Ah, but there aren’t enough beds or futons.”
“It’s summer, I’ll be fine with just a towel blanket. Hey, why don’t we camp in the yard like we used to? You have a big tent, don’t you?”
“That’s a great idea,” Kentarou said.
“That sounds fun! I’ve never been camping before,” the woman exclaimed with sparkling eyes.
“Hey, should we invite Haruko, too?” Kentarou, Minoha, and Haruko had been childhood friends since preschool. They’d played doctor together and even bathed together when they were little. The woman also knew about the secret ball the three of them had in their childhood castle.
“I’d love to meet Haruko. I’m looking forward to it,” the woman added.
“Wait, you even know about Haruko?”
“Yes, I’ve confirmed that with Kentarou-sama. It’s subjective information, though.”
“Ahhhh! Miss, please don’t say unnecessary things,” Kentarou cried out.
“Kentarou, once Haruko is here, there’s something I want to talk about,” Minoha said.
And thus, a long night began.
