After spending a great time at the amusement park with Ain-nyan, we finally checked in. The time was 7:00 PM. Since our rooms are separate, after checking in, I was supposed to go to Ain-nyan’s room. I had borrowed the room key, so I could enter whenever.
I lay down on the bed with a soft thud and felt an overwhelming urge to just fall asleep.
“No, no, I can’t. Why did I come all the way here for this?”
I had a feeling that if I laid down for even five minutes, I wouldn’t be able to get up, so I forced myself to rise from the bed, which seemed to call me into sleep. Holding back a yawn, I headed to the elevator. Ain-nyan’s room was on the 35th floor.
Even though I’d been to Ain-nyan’s room many times, for some reason, I felt nervous as I knocked on the door. Immediately, I heard her voice say, “Come in!”
I scanned the card key and entered.
“What is this?”
I couldn’t help but exclaim. The view before me was so luxurious that it didn’t even feel like part of the same building. The room was spacious, with a large bed, a giant TV on the wall, and even a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. For some reason, the lights were off, leaving the room dimly lit.
Ain-nyan was by the farthest window, waving at me to come over. At that moment, she already looked like “Ainyan.”
“Come on, come over here! It’s amazing!”
“Well, I don’t even need to go over there; this place is already amazing… Also, stop calling me ‘Tachi-ni,’ call me ‘Onii’ instead.”
Despite being in awe of the lavish room, I walked over to her. Standing next to Ain-nyan and looking out at the view, I couldn’t help but let out a sigh of admiration.
“Wow… it’s incredible.”
“Right? Isn’t it amazing?”
The sparkling night view of Yokohama’s city, the colorful lights of the amusement park, the lights of ships floating on the sea, and the waves reflecting those lights. But most striking of all was the giant Ferris wheel.
“That’s the Ferris wheel we rode earlier, right?”
“Yeah, it must be. Wow, it really is something.”
For a while, Ain-nyan and I both just gazed at the night scenery, mesmerized. The flickering lights of the city, which sometimes vanished, felt strangely captivating.
…How long had we been doing this? Suddenly, I snapped out of it and, without thinking, turned to look at Ain-nyan. She was facing me as well.
Our eyes met.
“…Ah.”
“…Hm?”
I don’t know why, but despite being so used to Ain-nyan’s face, I couldn’t take my eyes off her. Her usual mischievous smile, her eyes, her lips—they looked strangely alluring.
The distance between us, just a few centimeters, felt like an ocean, making me feel a tinge of sadness. I leaned in slightly, and Ain-nyan did the same. Yet, the sadness only grew stronger. It was like two magnets that are close yet can’t touch. The closer we got, the more I wanted to get even closer.
Without thinking, I reached out for Ain-nyan’s slender waist, and she placed her hand on my shoulder. The place where we touched, where I was touched, felt hot.
“Ain-nyan…”
“Tachi-ni…”
At this point, I had no room for any more thoughts. Most likely, Ain-nyan felt the same way. We leaned in, our faces drawing closer…

Ain-nyan’s live broadcast was scheduled for 8:00 PM. We only had 10 minutes left.
“Already that late!? Ain-nyan, get the tripod for your phone and set it up! Adjust it so your whole body fits in the frame! Oh, and the level counter! Where did we put that!?”
