Chapter 4.1

While hunting for skills, I was ambushed in the forest by a dozen high-level goblins. I smirked and switched my skills.

“Skill My Set—‘Combat’!”

By unlocking the composite skills of the Job “Bounty Hunter” and “Hacker,” my adventurer card was updated. This adventurer card also served as my Status Device, and the new feature added was “Skill My Set.”

(This is one of the features added in the official update after the ‘Job Hero’ with ‘Bounty Hunter’ and ‘Hacker’ combinations became popular in my previous life. It’s interesting to see it take this form in reality.)

Simply put, this is a godly function that allows me to use the numerous monster skills efficiently depending on the situation. However, this feature is meaningless in other combinations that don’t have “Magic Stone Hack,” and it won’t even display unless “Magic Stone Hack” is unlocked.

The list of my skills displayed on the Status Device changes to what I’ve set. The switch of skills causes an instantaneous transformation in my physical structure.

“Ha—!!”

Entering combat mode, I dashed towards the goblins rushing at me, swinging my arm high and activating the ‘Dissolve (Juvenile)’ skill.

A highly powerful fire-based dissolving liquid materialized to envelop my hand as I swung it down—“Dash!!”

In an instant, I made a large sweeping motion with my arm.

Countless droplets scattered along the path of my swing toward the goblins trying to close in on me.

——Sizzle—holes appeared in the faces of the goblins as the droplets hit.

“Giiiiiieeeeeeeeeeeeeee!?!?!?”

The screams of the goblins echoed through the forest, and their tainted blood, corrupted by the dark blessing and miasma, splattered everywhere. I grimaced at the rotten smell, but inside, joy welled up at the certainty of my victory.

(As expected, with the ‘Dissolve’ skill, it’s a breeze even against this level.)

What I did was straightforward.

Although it’s not very powerful, I further enhanced my body strengthened by the dual job bonuses of “Bounty Hunter” and “Hacker” with ‘Physical Ability Enhancement I.’ Following that, I efficiently swung my arm according to the guidance of ‘Martial Arts I’ and ‘Archery I,’ launching the dissolving liquid at the goblin horde that rushed at me.

Using multiple skills for a single action to amplify the final damage is called a combo, and it’s the foundation of all activities that occur in “Job Hero.”

Exhaling, I then assessed my battle results.

On the ground before me lay goblins riddled with holes, either dead or groaning in excruciating pain.

To put it mildly, it was a tragedy.

Yet, contrary to the gruesome scene, relief spread within me. The middle layer of the forest is a dangerous area where even high-tier classes like “Hero” and “Sword Saint” could be easily slaughtered at the level of my childhood friends.

Since I can fight here, my future is looking bright—no, I should finish this battle quickly.

“There are three left.”

The number of corpses I created with one strike exceeded ten.

Additionally, the goblin that had been grinning and acting like a leader right in the middle of their group had already been killed when he charged at me.

The remaining three goblins, shielded by the others, were the only ones who managed to survive the deluge of dissolving liquid.

I snapped my fingers, sending the dissolving liquid flying towards the foreheads of the few goblins who were clinging to life, while also grinning at the goblins who still didn’t understand what was happening.

“Sorry for being so rough. I’m in a hurry, you see.”

I dashed towards the fleeing goblins and swung my dissolving liquid-enveloped hand downwards.

The outcome of the battle was a resounding victory.

This was evidenced by the numerous magic stones I held in my hand after the fight.
