It’s been about a month since I met Ain-nyan. I often visit her room, and of course, my purpose is MetaFocus. Definitely not the cat-eared bratty pretty girl.
“Here, you can use it.”
“I told you, it’s mine. But I’ll gladly use the PC, though. Are you sure? Don’t you want to play too?”
“AiNyan plays when Tatsu-nii isn’t around, so it’s fine.”
At first, we used to fight over MetaFocus, but lately, she’s been letting me use it more often. Maybe Ain-nyan is getting bored of it. I, on the other hand, have no signs of getting tired of it at all.
“Alright, what should I play today?”
“Oh, by the way, Nyannyan Paradise got an update.”
“Oh? Maybe I’ll give it a shot.”
The first game I played when I used MetaFocus was Nyannyan Paradise. The name sounds a bit like a sketchy establishment, but it’s actually a heavenly game where you get to play with adorable cats. Ain-nyan occasionally recommends it to me.
I put on the VR headset, and after a short loading screen, a beautiful courtyard-like landscape appears. At first, it was just a plain field, but by bonding with the cats, earning Nyannyan Points, and exchanging them at the Nyannyan Shop, the scenery gradually upgraded.
As soon as the game started, a calico cat rubbed against my leg.
“Mike! Alright, alright, come here!”
As I interacted with Mike, I got more and more immersed in the game. This sense of immersion is incredible. Even though all I’m doing is playing with cats, earning points, and upgrading the scenery, time flies, and before I know it, two or three hours have passed.
After playing for a while, a long-haired cat appeared. It was a Somali, a relatively rare breed that sometimes doesn’t even show up after an hour of play.
“Oh! Marie! I’ve been waiting for you!”
As I crouched down and stroked its long fur, I felt as if I were really touching a long-haired cat. The immersion must be at its peak.
“You’re really the cutest! Who’s a good kitty?!”

But every time this cat appears, the game’s audio gets distorted, which is annoying. Maybe the developers accidentally corrupted the sound files.
After enjoying Nyannyan Paradise for a while, I took off the VR headset.
“Ahh, that was fun. Makes me want a real cat.”
“Haa… Haa… Th-this apartment doesn’t allow pets… Huu… So it’s impossible.”
Ain-nyan, for some reason, was lying on her bed, hair all messy, breathing heavily. She always ends up like this after I play VR games.
