Chapter 33

Response

I decided to let everyone rest for a while.

Everyone is tired from fighting the rare monster. It’s important to allow rest when possible.

Especially Koyomi. That guy broke his sword in the fight against the Gold Gel.

He’s lost a valuable weapon made from dungeon materials, so as of now, Koyomi remains a bit of a weak link in our team.

I’ve already placed an order for a new weapon, and we’re waiting for it to arrive, but until then, I couldn’t let Koyomi go into a dungeon.

By defeating the Gold Gel, our office’s reputation has risen again.

Especially Koyomi, who delivered the finishing blow to the Gold Gel, is now being hailed as a promising newcomer.

Both Koyomi and Ikezawa , despite being rookies, have their own unique strengths and are truly impressive.

I never really expected that much from the new recruits.

However, having strengths only brings benefits. This happy surprise is exactly what I’d call a pleasant accident.

While things are going well for us, some unfortunate news has also reached my ears.

First, there’s Lena-chan, who got her shoulder bitten off by the Gold Gel.

She went to the hospital immediately, and it wasn’t just her. Her followers, who were also bitten by the Gold Gel, also went to the hospital.

Lena-chan was in serious condition and mentioned in a live stream that her injury was severe enough to leave permanent aftereffects.

Since the Gold Gel bit her shoulder, her shoulder’s range of motion has been reduced.

The doctors told her it would never heal, and Lena-chan cried as she shared this news.

Well, I didn’t exactly have positive feelings toward Lena-chan, but it’s hard not to sympathize with someone left with permanent aftereffects.

However, as they say, it’s better to be alive. If Shiba-san hadn’t thought of a solution, Lena-chan and her followers would have all been done for. There’s no doubt they would have lost their lives.

And then, one of Lena-chan’s followers, the one who caused her shoulder injury, tried to flee after doing something unnecessary.

But he was quickly identified and is now being torn apart on social media.

Well, after making such a huge mistake and then running away from the dungeon, it’s no surprise he’d be roasted online.

I don’t know what’s happened to him now. There’s been no movement on social media, and there have been no reports of his death, so he’s probably still alive somewhere, barely getting by.

His face has been broadcasted to the whole world, and I worry if he can live a normal life going forward, but… well, he kind of brought it upon himself.

If he hadn’t done something unnecessary, the Gold Gel wouldn’t have transformed, and Lena-chan’s shoulder might have been unharmed.

However, I don’t think he meant any harm. He probably just wanted to help Lena-chan.

Thinking about it, it’s just a very bittersweet situation.

As for me, I was buried in work.

Whenever we encounter a new or rare monster in a dungeon, we have to write up a report and submit it.

Several people fought the Gold Gel. Even those who were merely possessed could technically be said to have fought it.

Since Koyomi defeated the Gold Gel, it seems that Shadow Stars will represent the team and submit the report.

And according to the contract, tasks like these reports are something I, as part of the behind-the-scenes crew, am responsible for.

I watched the broadcast, and Shiba-san had also told me about the Gold Gel’s weaknesses. So, I could write a report on its biology, but…

Well, it’s a hassle. But, it’s something that needs to be done for the future dungeon streamers.

If any dungeon streamers encounter the Gold Gel again, we’ll be able to create a manual based on the best way to handle it.

In the end, we live in an information society. Manuals, systems—those things are highly valued.

By passing down these manuals, humanity will continue to grow stronger.

“People who said Koyomi wasn’t needed, huh? lol”

“I’ve believed in Koyomi from the start.”

“Me too, me too.”

“You guys are flip-flopping lol. Thank goodness this is an anonymous forum.”

“Koyomi’s the one to blame for hiding his secret move.”

317: Anonymous ID: sysxxx
“He wasn’t really hiding it, maybe he just awakened at that moment? There are plenty of cases where staying in a dungeon’s magical field for too long causes your body to change and unlock special abilities.”

318: Anonymous ID: ktyxxx
“That’s Kaito’s ability. Also, didn’t Daigo say that he can tell a person’s potential just by looking at them?”

319: Anonymous ID: p8uxxx
“So, in the end, does that mean that anyone Daigo acknowledged had some sort of talent? How boring, no romance in that at all.”

320: Anonymous ID: sysxxx
“Koyomi joined earlier, though. And Daigo wasn’t even around when Koyomi joined. It wasn’t like Daigo recruited him, but Koyomi definitely had untapped potential from the start.”

321: Anonymous ID: p8uxxx
“Even so, the fact that Daigo didn’t kick Koyomi out means he must have had some potential, right? Anyone who doesn’t show growth gets kicked out.”

322: Anonymous ID: sysxxx
“Someone who joins late and kicks out a senior is pretty crazy, right? Plus, if you’ve watched Koyomi’s progress, you can tell he’s going to be a strong asset. Even without his secret move, he’s an outstanding rookie.”

323: Anonymous ID: ggrxxx
“Well, it’s easy to say that after the fact.”

324: Anonymous ID: sysxxx
“No, no. I’m one of the people who believed in Koyomi. Look through the logs. I’ve said multiple times that Koyomi was needed.”

325: Anonymous ID: ktyxxx
“Sure, sure.”

326: Anonymous ID: ggrxxx
“I might try to join Shadow Stars. Aren’t they not accepting new members right now?”

327: Anonymous ID: sysxxx
“Yeah, you’re probably not cut out for it. They only let in veterans or promising new recruits.”

328: Anonymous ID: ggrxxx
“What? Maybe I’m a promising newcomer too. I might be the strongest streamer who can use magic to empower my voice and coat my sword in an aura…”

329: Anonymous ID: sysxxx
“Stop with the fantasy combo, lol.”
