The Princess Sitting Next to Me is a Sweet Girlfriend Only in Front of Me
The next day, I woke up a little earlier than usual. After finishing my daily routine, I took a shower using water magic and headed to the academy.
I usually live in the dormitory, so I can get to the academy pretty quickly.
Maybe that’s why Fia arrived a little after I did.
“Sorry to keep you waiting! Did I make you wait long?”
“Not at all, you arrived just in time.”
We probably left around the same time.
There’s quite a distance from the castle to the academy.
By the way, it’s impressive how the recognition-obscuring magic lets the princess walk through town without causing any issues.
“What are we doing today?”
“Hehe, it’s a surprise once we get there!”
Following Fia as she happily skipped along, I couldn’t help but feel this was going to be fun.
“It’s quiet this early in the morning.”
“Right? I actually really like this time of day.”
We walked through the deserted school building.
We still had about two hours before the train would arrive.
The only students who come at this time are either club members practicing in the morning or members of the student council.
Or exceptions like us.
The place we’re at now isn’t one where club members typically gather.
And since there aren’t many people in the student council, we’re unlikely to run into them.
“Well then, we’ve arrived.”
“Hmm, is this… the remains of magical targets?”
Eventually, we exited the school building and arrived at a corner outside.
There, piles of broken magical targets were stacked up.
“Yeah, these targets have minimal magical defenses applied to them, but they break if hit repeatedly with magic.”
“Minimal defenses, sure, but literally the bare minimum… I think there was a part-time job for students to make these magical targets.”
“A part-time job, huh? That sounds nice.”
Unsurprisingly, part-time jobs are considered off-campus activities, so permission probably wouldn’t be granted.
Apparently, Fia is generally allowed to move freely only within the academy grounds.
The exception would be her commute between the academy and the castle.
Probably, measures are in place to handle any issues swiftly along her commuting route.
“So, today we’re cleaning this up.”
“On some days, you must gather broken targets from all over the place.”
“Exactly! The day before yesterday, I was late because I was collecting those broken targets.”
Ah, so that’s why we’re cleaning up these remains today.
“There’s a garbage disposal area over there, so let’s clean up there.”
“The disposal area, huh? It’s aptly named. The disposal method uses magic from before modern times, so it’s also good training.”
“Right… though despite that, not many students volunteer for garbage duty.”
“Well, most of them are nobles. Handling garbage is definitely something they’d consider a servant’s job.”
True enough. Most students here are nobles.
For me, a commoner, and Fia, who comes from a noble family with almost no servants anymore, garbage disposal isn’t a big deal.
With that, we got straight to work.
