Chapter 31

Misunderstanding ④ (Others' perspective)

The Princess Sitting Next to Me is a Sweet Girlfriend Only in Front of Me

Fia was in a hurry.

After promising Heim that she would help out at the academy starting tomorrow morning, they parted ways, and now she was on her way back to the castle.

In fact, she had already entered the castle grounds.

There was a small room in the castle used for changing disguises, and as usual, she entered it first to undo her disguise.

Fia Carat had returned to being Stellaphia Magipastel.

Afterward, she was now heading to her own room.

Why? Because…

“Ugh, uuuuugh, uuuuuuugh!”

She absolutely couldn’t let anyone close to her see her bright red face.

With a BAM! she burst into her room and leapt inside.

Then with a THUD! she slammed the door shut, and Stella collapsed where she stood.

Even though she had changed back into a dress befitting a princess from her school uniform, she had completely forgotten about it.

“Ah, ah, ah! Why does Heim-kun have to keep making me misunderstand things like that?”

Her scream echoed throughout the room.

She had already checked that no one was around.

So technically, she could have screamed outside her room if she wanted, but right now, she prioritized venting her emotions in private.

“All day since this morning, Heim-kun has been worrying about me! What’s with him!? Does he really want me to fall for him that badly!? My fondness meter can’t go any higher than this!”

To be honest…

—Just as Heim had been flustered by Fia’s newfound boldness—

Fia had also been barely holding back an explosion of emotions while Heim was beside her.

Not only that, but unlike Heim, who remained unaware of his growing affection for Fia, Fia was fully conscious of her own romantic feelings.

It didn’t take much thought to figure out who would be more easily shaken by the other’s actions.

“And then at the end, when he said something about helping me—it was just too much! I couldn’t stay calm after that!”

Still, somehow, Fia managed not to let it show on her face.

Especially since her identity had already been revealed to Heim, and she figured that must have added extra burden to him.

If she went and unloaded her feelings on top of that…

She doubted he’d be able to handle it, so she decided against it.

But still…

“Heim-kun acted completely normal though.”

Hugging her knees, hiding her face which felt like it might explode from embarrassment,

Fia recalled their farewell conversation.

Surprisingly enough, even after learning her true identity, Heim continued without breaking stride in his daily routine.

The sheer nerve to calmly dive into researching magical materials despite everything that happened…

She admired that.

“…Maybe I should try being a little more proactive?”

So, it was only natural for Fia to start thinking such thoughts.

But what Fia didn’t know—

Was that behind Heim’s seemingly normal behavior, he was constantly flustered by every move Fia made.

For that matter, between Heim and Fia,

The one who was actually dense about the other’s affections?

It was Fia.

And Fia… had no idea.

Despite being a commoner, I, Heim, was recognized for my talent and allowed to attend the Magic Academy as a scholarship student. One day, I discovered that the girl sitting next to me, Fia Carat, is actually this country's princess, Stellafia Magipastel. Though this revelation led to the two of us sharing her secret, for some reason, Fia began acting even more forwardly toward me than before I learned the truth…? Even though I’m called a genius, being a commoner surrounded by nobles at the Magic Academy meant I was looked down upon. The only one who treated me kindly was Fia, my seatmate. Kind-hearted, good-natured, and with a bit of a selfish streak that somehow only adds to her charm, she had a way of drawing me in. But why does Fia hold me, someone like me, in such high regard…?
