“What are you doing here? He is my friend. Drop your weapons and apologize immediately!”
“Aegis!?”
I tried to stop her as she issued commands from above to the Hades cultists, but her hand pointed at my weapon. Was she telling me to prepare for a surprise attack while buying time? Resolving things through power—typical of the Bloody family.
“I was worried since Lady Aegis left the mansion, so I came to check on her. Those people probably intended to kidnap you. That’s why they brought you to this remote place. That man is infamous as an incompetent and corrupt lord. You would have been used.”
The slim man smiled, making it clear that he was on Aegis’ side. Yeah, if I hadn’t built trust with her, this situation could’ve been dangerous. My bad reputation had spread far and wide.
But still, Aegis and I are already friends.
“It seems I was being followed… I’m sorry… Unfortunately, I know the cause of my mother’s illness. I also know you made her drink Mandragora!! And… Apologize for insulting my friend! If you do, I might spare your lives!!”
“How do you know that…!?”
The large man among the Hades cultists let out a shocked voice at Aegis’ words. Honestly, it feels good to hear her say all this, especially since in the game, she never opened up to anyone.
“Fools… Why are you reacting like that? It can’t be helped now. We’ll kill you all, including the girl!!”
The slim Hades cultist who had been fawning over us suddenly turned hostile, and the large Hades cultist raised both arms. If struck by those arms, there’d be no way to escape unscathed.
“Sorry about this, but I’ll make up for my failure with the muscles Hades-sama gave me!!”
“I won’t allow it!!”
“Shadows!!”
Rosalia’s ice intervened between the large Hades cultist and Aegis, freezing his massive body, while the shadows I secretly charged with magic bound the slim Hades cultist. Normally, this would mean victory, but it wouldn’t be that simple. Sure enough, they smirked.
“Hah! Don’t underestimate us, protected by Hades-sama!! Servants, come forth!!”
“That level of ice is meaningless before my muscles!!”
“My ice…?”
“What are these guys!?”
“A summoning technique… impressive…”
“Kyu—kyu…”
The large Hades cultist shattered the ice with overwhelming strength, and as the slim Loki cultist’s hands glowed, a sinister crow-like familiar condensed from darkness appeared.
I see… I understand their types now. Unfortunately for them, I’ve fought against these kinds of enemies countless times in the game!
“The big guy relies solely on brute strength! His speed and defense aren’t much to worry about—just watch out for his attacks! The slim guy’s crow is quick and targets weak points, but the main body isn’t a threat!!”
“Got it… Then we just need to strike quickly! Let me tell you something useful: trained martial skill can sometimes surpass raw muscle!!”
“Hahaha, no matter how fast you are, you can’t escape the tentacles of my Mireille, right?”

Aegis approached the large Hades cultist, who was smug after breaking the ice, with incredible speed. With a single swing of her sword, she sent him flying into the trees with comical force.

At the same time, Nial snapped his fingers dramatically, and countless tentacles burst out from the hem of his clothes, entangling and crushing the crow familiar!
“Alright, mealtime, Mireille. Savor it.”
“How dare you capture my familiar!?”
“You guys are stronger than I thought!”
As I manipulated the shadows to strangle the slim Loki cultist into unconsciousness, I asked the two of them. Both responded proudly.

“You two are amazing as always. But Lord Weiss is incredibly strong too.”
Well, Aegis was already a formidable opponent in the game—it makes sense she’s strong. Maybe her absurd stats weren’t due to a demonic sword but were natural talent. I should definitely avoid angering her…
And Nial… I’m not sure about him, but perhaps he’s a character introduced in future updates. Still, with these two on our side, maybe we—I mean, we might even surpass the protagonist and build a territory together. Realizing this made my heart race.

“Aegis, bring back the Hades cultist who flew off. We’ll hand him over to Lord Reinhard later. I’ll keep an eye on this one.”

As I listened to their banter, I kept an eye on the slim Hades cultist. Presenting the drugs and these guys to Lord Reinhard should convince him of my story.
“Lord Weiss… Allow me to handle this.”
“It’s fine. Besides, there’s something I want to see.”
“You really should rely on me more… I’ll keep watch around us.”
Smiling wryly at her slightly sulky tone, I touched the Hades cultist to check his status.

Ignoring the injuries to his body, the cultist tore through the shadow chains, scattering blood as he lunged for my neck. I instinctively backed away.
The Hades cultist’s hand cut through the air, and he glared at me with hatred.
“What is this guy…?”
‘Who are you… Could it be, messengers of a foreign god… You meddlesome fools…’
As the figure spoke, a voice descended from the heavens, filled with loathing for everything in existence. My heart trembled at the sound.
I recognized this event. It’s the protagonist’s defeat scene, triggered when they face one of the Twelve Apostles of Hades. Normally, after defeating one apostle, the protagonists are powerless as their mentor sacrifices themselves to buy time—an early depressing event.
This man’s name is Hades… Yes, the final boss and the reason behind the empire’s rampage.
