Chapter 17

Shopping Proxy

I returned to the tent, used cleansing magic to remove all the dirt from my body, and changed into my sweatpants.

I sat on the cot and, while looking at the list of requested items, tossed them into the cart.

“First up is Haruto. As expected, it’s all food.”

It seemed that the seasoning situation was quite urgent. Salt, pepper, soy sauce, mayonnaise, various sauces, and dressings were all clearly listed.

However, most of the other items were snacks. After requests for ten calorie bars and sports drinks, the rest was mostly made up of chips and other snack foods.

“Does he have all the other necessary tools? It looks like he brought his tent and sleeping bag.”

I was a little concerned, but the country and the temple were probably supporting him. It’s understandable that he wanted familiar snacks to relieve stress.

He had been given a silver coin worth about 10,000 yen in Japanese currency, so I decided to act as a proxy for him.

All of the requested items were 100 yen each, so I bought 100 of them and sent them to Haruto’s item box.

“Next up is Natsuki . I hope her list is better than her brother’s.”

I quickly skimmed through it. She had ordered almost the same amount of seasonings as Haruto.

However, she had also added ten units of sugar and honey.

“Is she lacking in sweet foods? But still, that’s a lot.”

Unlike her brother, Natsuki  seemed to have put more thought into her list. First, there were one T-shirt and two towels from a 300-yen shop, and a water bottle and cold tea pot from a 100-yen shop. She had also included tea bags for cold barley tea.

“As expected, Natsuki . It’s more cost-effective to make your own tea rather than buying bottled tea.”

A 100 P item is still 100 P.

I wasn’t sure how much salary the temple would provide, but it was better to be frugal.

“Then, the silver mat? Ah, it’s to put under the sleeping bag. Anything thicker than 500 yen is out, but there’s a 100 yen aluminum sheet. If she folds it and lays it out, it should be a little better.”

Still, I wondered if they were already camping. Haruto was tough, so maybe it didn’t bother him, but it must have been tough for a girl who wasn’t used to camping to sleep in a sleeping bag.

“Was she unable to sleep because her back hurt? Alright, I’ll send ten cushions as a treat from her reliable cousin.”

If she used them as a mat, she should be able to sleep a bit more comfortably. Each cushion cost 200 yen, so they were thick enough, and if she sewed them together, she could use them like a futon.

“Next, I’ll add the cutlery set and an unbreakable cup. There’s a good stainless steel set with a case that includes a knife, fork, spoon, and chopsticks. It’s 300 yen, but it’s worth it. The stainless steel mug with a lid for 200 yen also looks good…”

I added these items to the cart.

My balance had decreased significantly, but the remaining items were mostly chocolate, calorie bars, jam, candy, sports drinks, and cup noodles.

I packed them into the cart as best I could, and before long, the balance hit zero.

“Alright, let’s send this off quickly.”

The cushions were a bonus, and I added a message to the email. As soon as I sent them to the item box, I received a thank-you email.

“Wow, that was fast! They must have been really looking forward to it… Alright, I need to send it to Akimi quickly too.”

Akimi’s list also included seasonings, and unlike Natsuki , he had requested about ten more bottles of pepper.

Akimi was the type to focus on how to sleep comfortably in a tent during training camps, so he must have brought mats with him.

He was thorough in his preparations, and it seemed he had most of the camping gear he needed.

“As expected, Akimi. Just like Natsuki , he requested a bottle for cold tea. The two bottles are for barley tea and sports drinks.”

He had also requested tea bags for barley tea and powdered sports drink sets.

What set him apart from the other two was the addition of five bottles of salad oil, as well as cornstarch, wheat flour, tempura flour, and tartar sauce.

“Ah… it seems like there won’t be any deep-fried food… If there’s none, they’re planning to make it themselves. As expected of Akimi.”

He was a tall, handsome guy, but like Haruto and Natsuki , he was part of the athletic crowd. He was a big eater who could coolly finish a huge bowl of rice.

He particularly loved deep-fried food, so I could totally understand his request list.

“Looking at this makes me want to eat it too. Maybe I’ll try some Horn Rabbit fried chicken tomorrow.”

The rest of his list included ten chocolate bars and ten calorie bars. He also requested five bars of chocolate and candy, ramune, and juice—perhaps for countering low blood sugar.

The rest of the list was for cup noodles, fried noodles, and as many sweet breads as possible.

“Alright, I’ll send all the different kinds. If they have any preferences, they’ll probably request them next time. There are quite a few types of sweet breads… I’ll go for the ones that look like they have the most calories.”

Hunger is tough, especially after using a lot of magic. I almost wanted to ask the Creator God if MP stands for “fullness.”

“Melon pan, apple pie, cream buns, sausage buns… Oh, pizza bread sounds good. French toast looks sweet, I’ll get that too.”

After finishing shopping with the value of one silver coin, I sent the items to Akimi’s item box.

Ding! I got an email. Three messages.

“Let’s see… Haruto and Akimi both want cushions too? And Natsuki  is thanking me and requesting a sewing set?”

What’s this about? I read Akimi’s email carefully. Apparently, the country that summoned them, Shiran, had a significant cultural difference compared to Earth.

“Wooden box-shaped beds with straw for mats? Lying on hay or barley straw bags must be painful… Yeah, I guess so.”

The country had probably provided them with the best guest rooms they could, but it was a harsh environment for modern-day Japanese high school students.

Reluctantly, all three were sleeping in their own tents and sleeping bags.

I felt bad for them, so I sent each of them ten soft cushions as a treat. Since they were planning to sew them together, I didn’t forget the sewing sets.

Since I didn’t trust the fabric items, I added towels and blankets as well. They were 300-yen items, but the quality was surprisingly good.

They were soft to the touch, so they should be able to sleep well tonight.

As a token of gratitude, Akimi sent an additional silver coin. I had intended to treat them, but I gratefully accepted it as a gesture of appreciation.

I thought I’d send more useful items next time.

“Still, that environment must be tough. If the beds are like that, I can’t even imagine how bad the bathroom situation is…”

I seriously felt grateful for having talked with the Creator God before my reincarnation. Getting summoning magic turned into online shopping was a great move.

“Ah… but with conditions like this, I feel less motivated to go to a human village.”

If the country hosting important guests had such an environment, I could only imagine what the inns in the villages and towns were like.

“Well, the Creator God said he would have useful magical tools made. I guess I’ll just enjoy a slow life in the great forest for now.”

At the very least, I planned to level up and increase the selection of items available through the summoning magic online store, so that my cousins could live more comfortably.
