I was reincarnated as bait for the summoned hero
The items summoned are first stored in the Item Box.
When checking the list, the ‘Two-Story Cottage’ was properly stored.
“All that’s left is to set it up.”
The cat fairy, Cait Sith , used spirit magic to tidy up the area, and the two-story cottage was placed in the now well-prepared space.
“Wow…! It’s such a big house!”
“Compared to the tiny house, this is more like a vacation home.”
“Funyaah…”
The three of them, plus one, stood for a while, admiring it.
It was such a magnificent building.
“Yeah. It’s a wooden cottage, and aside from the solid construction, it’s pretty normal… right?”
The exterior resembled the kind of rental cottages commonly seen at paid campgrounds.
The neatly arranged logs looked almost too perfect, maybe a bit unnatural, but it wouldn’t be strange to see it in this world.
“At least it doesn’t look as out of place as a container house. Yeah.”
They approached the cottage and observed it closely.
The front entrance had a deck, so it seemed perfect for enjoying a barbecue under the roof.
With a four-person table set and room for a grill and cooking table, there was still plenty of space, which was a pleasant surprise.
“Let’s look inside.”
“Yes!”
Cait Sith , mimicking Sheila, raised a hand and responded with a cute “nyah.” Adorable.
The entrance led into an open living room layout.
There was a wood stove on the wall.
The description of the two-story cottage mentioned a fireplace, but it seemed to be a wood stove instead.
“Isn’t the fireplace integrated into the house, and the wood stove can be set up separately outside the building?”
I wasn’t sure of the exact definition, but it didn’t matter since it was perfectly fine. A wood stove that could also be used for cooking was much more practical than an old-fashioned fireplace.
It wasn’t the small, portable wood stove commonly seen in Japan for camping; it was a real, large stove.
Under the wood feed opening, there was a pull-out ash box, where you could store cooled food to keep it warm.
“This is perfect for softening hardened bread or dried meat. If it can cook at low temperatures, I could make roast beef or chicken ham.”
It was amazing to be able to prepare something in advance and leave it to cook by itself.
The iron plate on top of the stove could also be used to boil water or cook stews.
“Yeah, this is nice. It’s still warm, so I won’t use the stove yet, but I look forward to autumn and winter.”
Stews taste better the longer you cook them slowly.
A pressure cooker makes it easier to cook quickly, but dishes cooked with care over time always taste mysteriously better.
Curry, stew, pot-au-feu, and oden were definitely on the menu.
“Also, sweet potatoes roasted in aluminum foil on the stove—why do they taste so good?”
Recently, brand-name sweet potatoes have been exceptional in flavor.
I prefer the sticky types over the fluffy ones, so I’ll buy varieties like Beniharuka or Amatoku even if they’re a bit pricey. I hope they sell them at convenience stores.
“The ceiling is so high.”
Sheila, holding Cait Sith , looked around in awe.
“Yeah. The living room with the fireplace seems to have a vaulted ceiling.”
The cottage only had the minimum necessary furnishings, so it was empty and a bit lonely, but the thought of arranging everything however they wanted excited them.
“I want to explore the other rooms!”
“Alright, let’s go.”
Sheila seemed to feel the same way, her curiosity shining through as she looked around eagerly.
“Beyond the living room, there’s a toilet and bathroom. The kitchen and dining room are at the far end, and there’s a storage room, too.”
The layout was spacious.
The kitchen was quite large, and the dining room was about twelve tatami mats in size.
There were no dishes or refrigerator, but there was a large sink and magical tools for water and cooking installed on the kitchen counter.
“The shelves above the kitchen counter are built-in. That’s nice.”
There was storage space under the sink, so there was no problem with where to put pots or pans.
The counter was also spacious, making it a great place to enjoy cooking.
“Yeah, this is a good kitchen.”
The storage room next to the kitchen was about four and a half tatami mats in size, with built-in shelves, which seemed very convenient.
Since there was an Item Box, it might not be used much, but it could be good for storing long-lasting foods or seasonings. It would also be perfect for fermenting foods or storing alcohol, which would deepen in flavor the longer they were left to age.
Leaving the kitchen, they checked the toilet and bathroom. The magical toilet also had a handwashing station installed inside, which was impressive.
They hadn’t expected much, but to their surprise, the bathroom had a magical bathtub.
It incorporated water and fire magic stones, allowing hot water to be heated – the latest model. Although it was disappointing there was no shower, it was still appreciated that hot water came out just by turning the faucet.
With this magical tool, Sheila would be able to prepare the bath by herself.
(I can use Life Magic, and so can Cait Sith , but Sheila can’t…).
Life Magic is often underestimated, but it’s actually quite useful.
Especially the Purification Magic Clean, which has become indispensable—it’s a very convenient spell.
Even while adventuring, where one can’t easily take a bath, it’s possible to stay clean, and water in a bathtub can be heated to the right temperature using Heating Heat.
During camping, Fire Fire can be used to light a fire, and it’s also surprisingly useful to be able to create a cup of water.
Even without being an adventurer, if you can use Dry Dry, you can process felled wood quickly and make firewood with ease.
It’s a very handy spell.
(I’ll have to look into whether Sheila can use Life Magic.)
If I check the magic book I got from the Creator God Kesaran Pasaran, I’m sure I’ll find a way.
Anyway, for now, they were exploring their new home.
They decided to think about troublesome things later, and the three of them climbed the stairs leading to the second floor.
“The bedrooms are five rooms, and then there’s a bathroom and a toilet.”
The toilet was exactly the same as the one downstairs.
The bathroom on the second floor was more compact. The bathtub was small, and the washing area was narrow.
“Well, it’s probably just right for one person to bathe.”
It was far better than a shower-only bathroom.
Since the bathtub was small, the water filled up quickly, so it might be more convenient when wanting to warm up quickly.
“Let’s check the rooms.”
They opened the door to the first room.
It had a simple lock. The room was about six tatami mats in size, and like the others, it had no furniture.
There was one window, but no balcony.
For relaxing, the large living room would be more suitable, so the bedroom would be plenty fine for use.
Sheila was overjoyed to have her own room.
“All the rooms are the same. They’re clean and really lovely!”
Even if each of them used one room, three rooms would still be left. Although it was unclear if they’d all be able to come together, it was just the right number for the cousins.
“Nyah?”
“Ah, Cait Sith will be in the same room as me. I’ll make a little base for him in the living room.”
The spacious living room would definitely become a great playground.
They’d build a cat tower, provide cushions, and an ideal sofa bed for Cait Sith .
“Each of the rooms has a cat door installed in the door. The Creator God Kesaran Pasaran does a good job sometimes.”
Thanks to that, even with the door closed, Cait Sith could move freely to any place he liked.
“Well, now that the exploration is done, let’s start moving in our stuff.”
“Stuff…”
“Yeah, we’ll move the furniture from the tiny house and container house.”
If there was enough money, they would place furniture in each house, but unfortunately, they were short on points at the moment.
“I’ll have to earn a lot of points from tomorrow’s dungeon exploration.”
“That’s right. While reusing furniture is one thing, good food is important.”
“Is that what you’re focused on?”
Anyway, for now, they would live frugally.
To move the larger furniture, they decided to go outside and place each building in the yard.
