Thomas: The Reincarnated Person Who Became the Adopted Child of a Knightly Noble Family
After taking a break at the foot of the Aslanda Mountains, we ventured into the mountains.
I could see wyverns flying in the sky above. Their restless cries suggested that they were wary of us.
I had heard that the wyvern nests were located halfway up the mountain. We climbed a gentle slope and then scaled a steep rock face, eventually reaching a flat area. I was thinking of taking a break there, but before we could, the wyverns attacked.
“Don’t kill them! Rope their necks and pull them down!”
“Yes, sir!”
“We must not lose! Capture the wyverns!”
“Understood!”
Following the orders of Ben and Captain Persina, everyone moved swiftly, entangling the attacking wyverns with ropes.
The wyverns were strong, but our soldiers were even stronger.
“Heave!”
“Ho!”
“Heave!”
“Ho!”
Timing their movements with rhythmic shouts, the soldiers dragged the wyverns down to the ground. In less than two hours, we had captured fifty wyverns.
The wyverns were about 8 to 10 meters in length and resembled pteranodons.
“Tamers, form contracts with the wyverns.”
I wouldn’t just make them my subordinates—I would also have my tamers form contracts with them.
No one in this world uses magic to fly. If I could use magic, I’d love to try flying, but it seems that the magic users here don’t even think about such things. That’s why aerial forces like wyverns are such a valuable asset.
A wyvern can easily lift up to 500 kilograms, and larger ones can carry up to a ton.
If tamers and mages—or anyone capable of long-range attacks—rode them into battle, we could strike from a superior position in the air.
“Alright! Taming complete!”
“Good job!”
Ben’s subordinates successfully tamed the wyverns. There weren’t many tamers, but among my forces, I had about a hundred.
Seventy of them had already tamed griffons and hippogriffs, while the remaining thirty were all present for this mission.
The temple knights, on the other hand, only had ten tamers.
Once forty people had completed their contracts, I made the remaining wyverns my subordinates. While tamers have a limit to the number of creatures they can contract with, there is no such limit for me.
This time, I made ten wyverns my subordinates. With the twenty griffons and thirty hippogriffs I had already acquired, my airborne forces now numbered sixty.
Since we had tamed the wyverns, we decided to fly back.
I used alchemy to create saddles specifically for wyverns—two-seater saddles. One person would control the wyvern, while the other would wield magic or a bow, allowing for aerial combat.
“Did you fasten your seatbelt?”
“Yes, I did.”
I mounted the largest wyvern, with Charmy seated behind me.
“It’s cold up there, did you dress warmly?”
“Yes, I’m bundled up like a snowman.”
“Haha. Better that than freezing up there.”
“True. But take it slow at first, okay?”
“Got it.”
Charmy seemed nervous about her first flight, but flying through the sky was an incredible experience. Cold, but exhilarating.
“Ben, I’ll leave things on the ground to you.”
“Man, I wanted to ride one too.”
“You’re in charge of leading everyone back. Deal with it.”
“Tch.”
Ben sulked, but he had a job to do.
“Alright, Wyvern Squadron, take off!”
“Yes, sir!”
The wyverns flapped their wings twice, three times, kicking up dust as they lifted into the sky.
“Whoa!”
As Ben and the others shrank into the distance, Charmy let out a gasp of amazement.
It took only a few seconds to reach an altitude where we could look down on the Aslanda Mountains.
“So beautiful…”
Near the mountain’s peak was an emerald-green caldera lake. It was quite the sight to behold.

The green lake below looked like a giant jade gemstone. Seeing it reminded me of my homeland.
There was a jade mine in my home country. My father was a jade craftsman, but since the mine’s output had dwindled, he couldn’t meet the quotas set by the kingdom.
For that, the priests blamed him and had him whipped. His injuries led to his death.
The priest coldly declared, “This is divine punishment for his laziness.”
It was infuriating. My father would have lived if they hadn’t whipped him. How dare they call that ‘divine punishment’?! I wanted to strike the priest down.
But if I was caught and executed, who would take care of my mother and younger siblings? I swallowed my rage and held back.
After my father’s death, the priests seized our home and forced us into a life of slavery.
My mother, exhausted from the harsh conditions, eventually collapsed. The priests mocked her weakness, and our suffering only worsened.
Then, one day, a priest from the Deuro Temple appeared. He healed my mother, who was on the verge of death, and gave us food.
In the Holy Kingdom of Catriais , only the Catriais faith was permitted. Naturally, the Catriais priests tried to capture the Deuro priest. But at that moment, lightning struck down upon them.
“Those who exploit faith for personal gain shall face divine wrath.”
The Deuro priest declared firmly as he watched the Catriais priest writhe in pain.
After that, my family fled to the Kingdom of Kuldia under his guidance. We first stayed in a refugee camp, where we had plenty to eat and received free medical care.
It was all thanks to the Deuro Temple.
Once, I asked the priest, “Why didn’t you come sooner? If you had, my father wouldn’t have died.”
With tears in his eyes, he replied, “I regret that deeply. It is my failing. If you must hate someone, hate me. But please, for your family’s sake, promise me that you will keep moving forward.”
His words struck me.
“Can I ever become like you?”
“Everything is according to Deuro’s will. Pray.”
I prayed whenever I had time. One day, I felt lighter. When I checked my status, my rank had risen.
I was originally a Rank D livestock farmer. Now, I was Rank B, with a new blessing—Monster Tamer.
When I told the priest, he smiled and said, “Deuro watches over you, Tamlin.”
Then, one day, I heard that Deuro’s Apostle was recruiting tamers.
“Would I be of any use?”
“If you wish to serve the Apostle, that is enough.”
“Then I’ll do it! Please take me to him!”
And so, my family moved to the Deuro Temple in the Bald Territory—the birthplace of the Apostle.
Here, the people were happy. There were no starving children in rags. Orphans were raised in the temple’s care.
My mother and siblings found work there, and we were able to stay together.
I joined the temple knights, training relentlessly. Only knights above level 100 were considered full-fledged warriors. I pushed myself and reached level 200.
The Apostle said, “You’ve worked hard.”
Then, I set out with him to tame wyverns in the Aslanda Mountains.
“I’ve come so far…”
Once, I had no future. Now, I rode wyverns as a temple knight. My family lived happily.
For their sake—and to ensure no one else suffered as I had—I vowed to destroy the Holy Kingdom of Catriais .
