The year has changed, and I turned sixteen. Ben and Miss Claudia’s wedding is held at the Deuro Temple in the Bardo territory.
Many couples have their ceremonies at the Deuro Temple. Especially the people of Bardo Territory, many of them vow their future here.
Originally, commoners didn’t have the custom of weddings. If they reported their marriage to the temple, that was the end of it.
One time when I happened to be at the temple, a commoner came to report their marriage. I suggested they have a modest wedding, and now everyone has started to have one.
Nobles already had weddings, so it was simply simplified for the commoners to make it easier, but surprisingly, it’s been well-received.
Ben, wearing a pure white tuxedo, has a stiff face due to nervousness.
“What’s wrong with you, Ben? You usually act like yourself.”
“Shut up, I’m just fine like always.”
“With a face as pale as that, you’re ‘fine as always’?”
I couldn’t help but laugh, and Ben glared at me.
“Lord Flamebulk. It’s almost time. Please allow me to escort you to the ceremony hall.”
The priest came to call us. Following him, we saw Miss Claudia waiting in the hall. She was dressed in pure white and looked very elegant and beautiful.
“Baron Baltza is unusually nervous.”
Standing next to Miss Claudia, Baron Baltza is so stiff. I whispered to Ben, and he looked just as stiff.
It seems they get along well, as these two frequently drink together and train after having a fight.
“Even Bowman’s stiff…”
Bowman, walking like a malfunctioning robot, arrives. He’s so tense that his eldest son, Gunz, and third son, Bakken, are pulling his arms.
“Ben, Miss Claudia, congratulations. Today is the start of your new life, so enjoy the ceremony.”
“Uh… yeah…”
“Thank you, Lord Thomas.”
Leaving the rest to the priest, I entered the ceremony hall.
Many guests were already seated, waiting for the entrance of the couple.
I sat between my mother and Siegfried in the front row. Else was quietly held by my mother.
“Now, please welcome the bride and groom with a grand applause.”
The Archbishop smiled and encouraged applause as the couple and their parents entered.
First, Ben and his parents entered, followed by Miss Claudia and her parents walking slowly.
In front of them stood a statue of Deuro-sama, with the sacred stone next to it radiating a divine light.
Today, the temple adjusted the schedule so that the general visitors would be allowed in the afternoon, with the ceremony taking place in the morning.
At the front row where we were sitting, Ben looked back. His parents moved to the right, waiting for Miss Claudia and her parents to line up.
Ben and Miss Claudia stood together, and Baron Baltza and his wife moved to the left. From here, the couple proceeded alone, and their parents sat on the long benches.
Bowman was crying loudly. Baron Baltza was also crying behind him. Both their wives looked like they were taken aback by their husbands’ tears.
“Now, we will begin the wedding ceremony of Ben Flamebulk and Claudia Baltza. Please face each other.”
Miss Claudia, with her face hidden behind lace, looked visibly flushed.
“In the presence of Deuro-sama, do you both vow to live together with care, sincerity, and love, until death do you part?”
“Yes, we do.”
“The wedding kiss, please.”
Ben lifted Miss Claudia’s lace, his hands shaking as he awkwardly kissed her.
Even though it was a clumsy kiss, it seemed Miss Claudia didn’t mind.
“Oh, our god, Deuro-sama! Please bless this young couple!”
“Bless them!”
As the guests chanted in unison, the sacred stone shone brightly, as though bestowing blessings upon the couple.
“What a fantastical sight,” my mother said, sighing in admiration.
If only my mother could have had a wedding. I wanted her to forget the times she was treated as a mistress by that worthless man.
Ben and Miss Claudia’s wedding ceremony concluded smoothly. They now live together happily in a new home on the grounds of their estate in the royal capital.
Meanwhile, Reinhardt’s wedding was solemnly held. His ceremony took place in the royal castle, where the Archbishop sent by the Ashenton faction and the Deuro Temple performed the ceremony.
Since Ashenton is the state religion, they had to show their presence at the prince’s wedding.
I also attended as a Marquis, but it was a much more formal ceremony compared to the Deuro Temple wedding.
Traditional weddings were held from morning until evening, and the guests were the ones who ended up exhausted. The only thing I remember from that ceremony was how sore my shoulders were.
As for me and Lady Lene, we had no choice but to use the Deuro Temple, so our ceremony took less than thirty minutes. It was a simple affair.
