Well, the party was fine.
I simply attended and deepened my friendly relations with the sympathetic nobles.
If I had to say anything, it might be that my buffet-style standing meal from last year was copied?
Indeed, in a party where the meal isn’t the main focus, having a row of large plates while sitting down to eat and drink makes things quite cumbersome.
It’s impressive to see so many dishes laid out to showcase the royal family’s power, but by the end, they’re cold and not even edible…
First of all, the seating arrangement limits interaction, making it pointless as a networking event.
It seems they do take the opportunity to copy what can be copied… I was impressed to hear that the first official party in this format was organized by Baron Carenheit, making him the originator.
It appears the country intends to give me as little credit as possible.
I don’t particularly care, as I dislike this country enough to turn down a noble title… But if they start erasing the achievements of people they dislike or find inconvenient, then it really feels like that organization is finished.
As I mentioned before, the key to maintaining an organization is to punish even beloved subordinates for mistakes, and generously reward even disliked subordinates for good results.
If you show favoritism just because you like someone, you might as well be running a bandit group. Building a large organization requires more than just pretty words and sentiment.
And this country, which can’t enforce reward and punishment due to “sentiment,” is already rotten, and it won’t be long before it meets its end.
Now, on to work.
I’ll be using my vacation to launch a new game.
“Alright, it’s time for the final push! This isn’t a game that can be patched online, so if we miss any bugs, it’ll lead to a product recall fiasco!”
“Yes, sir!”
I really mean it.
A recall would damage the company’s reputation, so I want to avoid that at all costs.
Final Fantasy 8…? Ugh, my head…
…Winter is coming, and people will likely stay home due to the cold.
Having games to distract them during such times should be a big help…
We’ve released five titles.
“Cross Trigger,” “Rave Rave,” “Romancing Kaga,” “Tactics Ogre,” and “Demon Castle Dracula”…
Each one is a homage to classic games from Earth.
The story is an original one I thought up casually, but honestly, it’s sufficient for the people of this world who aren’t used to storytelling.
Ah, “not used to storytelling” means that most people in this world have never encountered manga, anime, or games, so they can enjoy even template works.
For example, if modern people, like Japanese people today, were to play Dragon Quest 1.
They’d likely think, “There’s no twist here” or “This is so cliché.”
But when this game was released on the Family Computer, it was truly amazing, you know?
Children lined up at stores to buy the game, and related magazines came out with tips and tricks! People enjoyed this “plain and boring game” all night long…
It’s the same principle.
Until now, storytelling was limited to things like nursery rhymes passed down in villages or ancient myths…
When it came to play, it was limited to swinging sticks around for “knight play” or “playing house.”
In such a world, a pixel-art classic template RPG is truly a dramatic substance.
Today again, an absurd number of people are lined up in front of the trading company under my control…
Nobles criticizing me, foreign dignitaries, and merchants who traveled from afar.
A massive crowd has gathered in the capital to buy the new games…
But that’s not all.
I’ve also sold “strategy guides” for the old games as new content.
These guides are written by the kids in charge of debugging the games…
Those articles were proofread by Grace and then bound into books.
The beautiful illustrations drawn by Ada… Since we’re currently making pixel art games, there’s also value in it as a beautiful illustration collection.
Item performance names, and Ada’s lovely illustrations.
Alan and Betty were tasked with the original stories for the short comics at the end of the strategy guide.
This is a precursor to our media mix plan.
The games we’ve released still have the potential for follow-up numbered titles.
Thus, to foster a bond with the characters, I want to expand into media mix development, creating manga, visual works, merchandise, and more.
Viscount Carpenter seems eager to profit by selling goods through theater performances and game music concerts using these game characters, so I plan to assist him. I mentioned this before.
As a precursor to that, I’ll first release the strategy guide and see the reaction.
Now, what will happen…?
Result: a massive hit.
Of course, right?
As I’ve said multiple times, this world lacks entertainment.
Illustrations are no exception.
Artists are like high-priced guests kept by wealthy patrons to paint their portraits.
Paints and brushes are expensive, and it takes a long time to practice.
Music is the same.
It’s not something the common folk can casually see or hear.
But games and strategy guides have made that possible.
Wow, the sales are insane.
Even a month after release, there are still overwhelming numbers of people in the capital.
For security reasons, not just city guards and volunteer groups, but even knights are being mobilized, causing a daily uproar.
Can we do figures too? No, if we do movable joint types… If we’re going to do that, they should be dolls from the start…
Fan events could also be a good idea.
A magazine with reader submissions… Animation adaptations, games from other genres that haven’t been released yet…
There are endless possibilities of things we can do.
Ah, I’m so busy with work…
