Three Days at the Demon Mountain Dungeon Entrance
It had been three days since I set up a base in front of the entrance to the Demon Mountain Dungeon.
Sleeping and waking in the tent, made spacious and comfortable thanks to spatial expansion magic, was a delight.
Recently, my Summoning Magic Online Shopping skill leveled up, and to my surprise, a certain major furniture retailer was added to the shop list.
I was slightly disappointed it wasn’t a home improvement center, but my quality of life undeniably improved because of it.
The handmade bed I had cobbled together using slats and cushions summoned from a 100-yen shop was promptly retired. Instead, I selected an antique-style wooden frame bed.
Opting for a queen-size, I instantly spent 100,000 points, but I had no regrets.
I also tossed a box sheet and a down comforter into my cart.
As for pillows, I already owned a luxurious one I’d purchased from the gift section of a convenience store’s online shop, so I skipped buying more.
The down comforter, naturally, was the most expensive option available.
Sleep is important, and I wasn’t about to skimp on it.
This queen-size comforter also cost 80,000 points, but I rationalized it by deciding I’d earn more points in the dungeon later.
“Wow… This feels incredible… It’s perfect…”
I lay down on the newly set-up bed for a trial run, and it was far more comfortable than the cot or the handmade slat bed I’d used before.
The mattress, paired with the soft and light down comforter, was so pleasant that I could barely resist the pull of sleep.
Ketsue, the cat fairy (Cait Sith) who had climbed onto the bed with curious excitement, began kneading the down comforter the moment his paws touched it. Within seconds, he curled up on the spot, purring away.
“…He fell asleep instantly.”
Well, compared to the pet bed I got from a 300-yen shop, the difference was night and day.
I had anticipated Ketsue snuggling into the bed with me, which is why I opted for a queen-size. Bring it on—I welcome it.
Sleeping with an adorable kitten? It doesn’t get better than that.
“Spending 200,000 points on bedding alone was worth it.”
I was truly glad I had expanded the tent’s space. If I hadn’t, a single-size bed would have been the limit.
Surveying the expanded tent interior, I made a resolution.
“Well, since it doesn’t look like I’ll be buying a house anytime soon, I might as well get good furniture now. Points can be earned again, so I’ll go for the best.”
For now, I didn’t have any acquaintances in this otherworld, but who knew what the future held? It would be wise to choose furniture with a design that wouldn’t look out of place in this world.
I had even chosen an antique-style bed for that reason.
Luckily, the furniture store that had been added to the shop featured a section of antique-style pieces, popular among women.
I was amazed to find that they even sold fireplace-style heaters—likely influenced by the camping boom.
“Next, I’d like a sofa. If it’s fabric, Ketsue might scratch it, so let’s go with leather. No electric recliners; I’ll pick something simple. Still, even that’s over 200,000 points…”
Avoiding flashy red, I tapped on a bright brown genuine leather sofa. It looked amazing.
I debated getting an L-shaped sectional, but since it was just me and Ketsue, I settled on a two-seater.
Because I chose genuine leather, it cost 240,000 points.
I added a side table to the cart while I was at it.
I didn’t plan to eat on the sofa, but I did want a place to set my coffee.
“Cushions? I could get some at the 100-yen shop, but since I’m at it, I might as well buy from the furniture store.”
A genuine leather sofa deserves better than a cheap cushion.
That said, cushions weren’t exorbitantly expensive compared to department stores.
I decided on two cushions for 1,500 points each.
Then, my eyes were drawn to a different item—a large, square beanbag cushion measuring 65 cm per side.
“This is the one that supposedly makes both humans and pets lazy…”
Since I was getting a leather sofa, the beanbag wasn’t strictly necessary.
But I couldn’t resist its allure.
The adorable kitten currently entranced by the down comforter would surely love this cushion too.
I imagined Ketsue burying his tiny body in the beanbag, happily kneading it with his paws.
It would undoubtedly be the cutest thing ever.
“Alright, let’s buy it.”
I can enjoy something cute for 8,000 points. There’s no doubt I’m buying it.
I didn’t want to just place it on the floor, so I also bought a rug that seemed nice to the touch.
I chose one that cost 10,000 points.
I quickly set it up and tried sitting on it. My head sank deeply into it, and the unique sensation made me involuntarily say, “Fwaa…”
Yeah, this feels great. I totally understand why cats would want to knead it. While enjoying the texture with my palms, I browsed for other furniture.
“As expected of a large furniture store. They even have kitchen counters and kitchen boards. I don’t really need these, though. The house should come with them. But a small kitchen storage shelf would be just right for holding dishes.”
Cooking happens outside the tent.
For just tea or snacks, a small storage unit will do, but sometimes it might be nice to have a leisurely meal inside the tent. So, I decided to get a reasonably sized kitchen board.
I arranged the plates and glasses I had bought at the 100-yen shop on the shelves.
The kitchen board came with a microwave stand, and the sliding door storage was set up for plates and glasses. It had two small drawers, and a larger drawer at the bottom.
“I’ll put cutlery and cloths in the small drawers, and store snacks and cup noodles in the big one.”
I decided to place Ketsue’s snacks in one of the smaller drawers.
I placed an enamel kettle on the microwave stand. It’s simple, looks good, and with this kettle, I can boil water using life magic.
Since I’m at it, I’ll grab some nice tea leaves or drip coffee packs at the convenience store later.
“Now, the bedroom is too visible, and it feels unsettling. I should get a rack or shelf for privacy.”
The bed is placed on the far wall, furthest from the entrance of the tent. It hadn’t bothered me until now, but now, with points, I can create private spaces inside the tent.
I bought a wooden rack and shelf in a calm color and set them up in front of the bed.
I placed a battery-operated clock, towels, and other small items on the shelf. I chose a bookshelf shelf for it and filled it with books. I had given the manga and magazines to Haruto , so there were only recipe books, photo books, and novels left.
“Hmm, this looks good. It really looks like a one-bedroom apartment now. I could use a hanger rack too.”
I chose a simple wooden hanger rack. It had an adjustable shelf, and I decided to use a rattan basket as a storage box for T-shirts, underwear, and socks.
It had hooks on the side, so I could hang bags or hats.
It was also great that it came with a curtain for privacy.
At 15,000 points, it wasn’t a bad purchase, especially since I could use it in my house later.
“That should be it. Now for pet supplies and other odds and ends. I’ll take my time looking through those later, and as for the rest…”
I slid the screen and paused.
A category I never imagined would be in a large furniture store.
“No way. They have men’s loungewear!”
The 300-yen shop only had women’s items, so I had reluctantly chosen simple, solid-colored ones, but here, there were actually men’s loungewear options.
Not only loungewear and pajamas, but also underwear and socks. There were sweatpants, T-shirt and shorts sets, cardigans, and robes.
There were even T-shirts with mesh hoodies, down vests, and pants, likely influenced by the camping gear selection.
Everything was affordable, with most items costing just 2,000 to 3,000 points. The simple, plain designs were also a huge plus.
“Alright, I’m buying it! I should also let the others know. I can’t spend too much since my points are running low, but…”
When I told them about my Summoning Magic level-up via the hero messenger, a flood of joy stamps poured in.
Everyone, of course, immediately started picking out bedding. I couldn’t help but laugh.
When I replied that it might be better not to buy anything since it wouldn’t fit in the tent, I got a despairing “furball” stamp in return.
Feeling a little bad, I explained about spatial expansion. Akimi was so motivated, I’m sure they’ll master it soon.
“Before that, I’d better save up some points myself…”
Though I had no regrets about my splurge, seeing my significantly reduced points made me feel a little lonely.
I decided to cut back on luxury items like convenience store bento and focus on cooking for myself and dungeon exploration.
