Chapter 53

Before the Main Story of Toma

Summary so far

Toma, who was caught up in a live reincarnation summoning, was imprisoned in a dark void by three self-proclaimed divine messengers.

Saved from the dark void by “The Nameless and Forgotten One,” Toma learned that this being was, in fact, the true god, Deuro.

After being reincarnated, Toma expressed his gratitude to Deuro and diligently leveled up in accordance with their contract. He was also deeply thankful to his stepfather, who rescued him and his mother from their hardships.

Moreover, it was revealed that Toma’s mother was not a slave but actually a kidnapped daughter of a duke.

In gratitude to Lord Deuro and to contribute to the development of the region, Toma began brewing alcohol. When Cardinal Dardale, dispatched from the temple, confirmed the title of “Apostle of Deuro,” Toma was officially recognized as a divine emissary.

Current Status

I am Toma Roxfall, and I turned 10 this year.

My mother is Aliusha Ashud Rocksfall, aged 27.
My stepfather is Sir Rob Ashud Rocksfall, aged 33.
My younger brother is Siegvalt Ashud Rocksfall, aged 3.

My mother’s real name is Hermina, and she was a noble daughter of the Bayerlein Dukedom.
However, she was kidnapped at the age of 13, lost her memory, and gave birth to me as a slave. Her memory has not yet returned.

Nobles in this country have official registries, and as I recently learned, I have been adopted as an heir to the Roxfall family.
In this country, “adopted heir” refers to an adopted child who inherits the family’s title.
However, as I am not related by blood to my stepfather Rob, I believe my younger brother Siegvalt should inherit the family instead.

When I was adopted into the Roxfall family, the population of the Ashud territory, which they govern, was less than 1,000. Now, it has grown to approximately 5,000.

The fivefold population increase over four years is likely thanks to industry, the dungeon, and the support of the Bayerlein Dukedom.
Additionally, the thriving trade routes brought by the harbor have played a significant role.

The population continues to grow and is expected to exceed 10,000 within two or three years, demonstrating rapid expansion.

Key industries include cheese, alcohol, solar lamps, and materials from wild and dungeon monsters.

Alcohol Production

There are two breweries producing large quantities of alcohol.

  1. Horse King
    • This was the first alcohol I brewed and has become the face of the Roxfall family.
    • Monthly production: 225 barrels (18 liters per barrel).
  2. Appelpop
    • Brewed from late winter to early summer, taking three months to produce.
    • Total annual production: 19,200 bottles (750 ml each).
    • The temple gets 20% of Appelpop through priority sales, while merchants buy most of the remaining 80%. The temple promotes it as “the drink of the gods.”
  3. Medicinal Liquors
    • Three types: Longevity Wine, Icebreaker Wine, and Vitality Wine.
    • These are produced by the Roxfall family but sold through the Bayerlein Dukedom.
    • Brewing takes place from autumn to early winter to avoid overlapping with Appelpop production.
    • Due to the high cost and limited supply of medicinal ingredients, these are considered luxury items.

The production of all alcohols has now been handed over to skilled craftsmen like Mr. Gin and Mr. Rum.

Solar Lamps

Solar lamps are also selling well, with distribution channels covering the entire country.
The temple, which first adopted the lamps, serves as the main sales hub.
Cardinal Dardale, a sharp and capable elder stationed at the Ashud temple, has been instrumental in this effort.

Smithy

Mr. Bowman’s smithy has grown into a large-scale operation, employing over 20 blacksmiths.
They handle both general smithing and the mass production of solar lamps, including their critical components.

Ashud Dungeon

The Ashud Dungeon has been explored up to its 15th level, which appears to be its deepest point.
Despite rumors that dungeons typically have bosses, the Ashud Dungeon has none.
However, the monsters encountered on the 15th floor are formidable, helping us significantly level up.

Exploration is conducted by Ms. Kozumi’s group, the territorial army, and my own team.
While it’s a profitable venture, leveling up remains my primary objective.

Ms. Kozumi, who is turning 35 this year, plans to retire soon. I invited her and her four companions to join the territorial army, and they gladly accepted. It seems they all married women from the Ashud territory and wanted to settle here, making the offer timely.

Now I understand why Father arranged marriages for Ms. Kozumi’s group…
