Chapter 59

The Contents of the Treasure Chest

The ruins area extended to five layers.

The monsters encountered were all bipedal, and no edible meat dropped. At least if there were orcs, I could get some delicious meat.

“Well, I might as well move forward, hoping for a treasure chest to drop occasionally.”

The magical bow I got from a treasure chest had been very helpful. Upon further appraisal, it seemed to be made from Yggdrasil branches, and its performance was outstanding.

When I nocked an arrow and focused on wind magic, channeling my mana, an arrow surrounded by wind would materialize and pierce the prey.

Of course, I could also use mana of other attributes.

Perhaps there was some kind of accuracy bonus, as I rarely missed my target.

Even hobgoblins, which would be difficult to take down with regular arrows, could be defeated with ease using a single magical arrow.

“The mana consumption is low, and the power is unquestionable. The aim is also easy to control. It’s a great weapon.”

For my personality, it suited me far better than a greatsword. After all, elves are known to be masters of the bow.

Maybe there’s even a racial bonus at play.

To improve my archery skills, I decided to continue using this magical weapon for a while.

“Since I channel mana when firing, it could also serve as practice for controlling different types of magic.”

Although I could instantly defeat monsters with magical arrows, I couldn’t let my guard down in the ruins area. The fourth layer wasn’t a problem, but the fifth layer had traps set up.

I was dismayed by the vicious traps, like plant-based snares, pit traps, and bear-trap-like devices, but they were all manageable as long as I kept my [Appraisal] skill activated at all times.

It seemed that there were goblins and kobolds, or higher-level variants of them, who were good at making traps. Unlike in adventure movies, these weren’t traps set to protect the ruins.

“It’s a relief it wasn’t a trap with huge boulders rolling down on me in a narrow cave.”

I muttered half-jokingly, suddenly feeling a bit uneasy.

So far, the traps had been primitive, set by monsters, but as I descended into the lower levels of the dungeon, there might be more dangerous ones waiting.

Not just boulders, but hidden arrows, knives flying at me, or spear carpets in pit traps could be lurking.

“…Yeah, I’ll keep both [Appraisal] and [Presence Detection] active at all times. Also, I’ll have to prepare countermeasures in case any traps I can imagine show up.”

The shield granted by the Creator God’s blessing could block attacks from magical beasts and monsters.

However, while it didn’t suffer direct damage from strong impacts, it could still be knocked back.

The tent’s barrier was effective against magical beasts and monsters, but against humans, its effect seemed to vary.

The magical book mentioned that high-level adventurers could easily break through a dazzling barrier.

“In other words, the Creator God’s blessings and protection aren’t foolproof. While they protect me from magical attacks from monsters, traps might slip right through.”

I didn’t have the reckless bravery to try triggering a trap myself.

A little carelessness could be the difference between life and death in this world.

Avoiding the traps on my own seemed like the right answer. Even if they laughed at me for being a coward, I was fully prepared to run away.

“Most traps in caves can probably be avoided with earth magic defense. I’ll focus on leveling up my Earth Wall skill.”

For projectile attacks, I’d block them with earth magic walls, and for boulders, I’d smash them with magical arrows.

One of the earth magic spells could break rocks into sand, but that required concentration and precise mana control, making it unsuitable for immediate counterattacks.

Crushing them with magic arrows seemed to be the best option.

“What about pit traps? I’ll just keep checking with [Appraisal] as I go, but if I accidentally step into one, I’ll probably have to create a floor with earth magic.”

Maybe I could try levitating with wind magic.

Or could I use water magic to shoot myself up like a fountain?

“That’s a bit tricky… Hmm, for defense, earth magic seems strong. I’ll focus on leveling it up.”

While thinking of countermeasures, I steadily defeated hobgoblins and kobolds with magical arrows.

I didn’t forget to pick up the dropped items. Occasionally, there was the enjoyment of finding rare drops, so it wasn’t a task I disliked.

A goblin appeared holding an unusually long staff and cast fire magic, but I practiced defending with an earth wall and shot back with a fire arrow.

“Oh, so that one was the floor boss here. It dropped a treasure chest.”

Excited, I opened the treasure chest, and inside was a small rectangular box, about the size of the palm of my hand.

“What’s this?”

The box was rectangular and had no lid.

It looked like a toy block, but I was surprised when I appraised it.

I immediately wanted to try it, so even though it wasn’t in a safe area, I took out the tent from my [Item Box] and set it up inside the barrier.

“Let’s infuse it with mana. Is this place alright?”

I carefully placed the rectangular box from the treasure chest on the ground and stepped back, and the box began to change drastically.

“Finally! It took you long enough, Creator God!”

It turned out to be a special magical tool.

Although it was made of wood, it looked exactly like a portable toilet you’d often see in Japan.

It was about 1 meter in width and depth, and around 2 meters tall.

It was a bit cramped, but I wasn’t going to complain.

It was far more dignified than going into the bushes with a shovel.

When I opened the door, I was surprised.

I had assumed it would be the same size as it looked, but it seemed to have a spatial expansion spell. Inside, it was as spacious and clean as a luxury hotel’s bathroom.

It was a small room, about 3 meters by 3 meters, with tiles on the floor. There was a toilet in the back, and surprisingly, it had a warm water shower.

It flushed automatically and dried with warm air, a considerate design.

There was no music, but compared to a Japanese toilet, it was just as good.

On one side near the entrance was a washbasin.

It was a simple hand-washing station with just a mirror and sink on the wall, but it was more than enough for me, especially since I didn’t need to do makeup.

There was a small shelf, so I gently placed my toothbrush set there. The walls were made of marble, so I bought a suction hook from the dollar store and hung a towel.

“Yeah, this seems great. Actually, this toilet is amazing.”

The only downside was that there was no bath, but I could get a bathtub and install it later.

There was even a space that seemed designed for that purpose, so I thought I’d figure it out myself.

“The fact that it’s palm-sized and

portable is also amazing. Creator God, you really came through.”

This treasure from the dungeon’s chest was most likely a gift from the Creator God, Kesaran Pasaran.

(I guess the Creator God remembered my request for a comfortable life when I was reincarnated. They said they’d take care of it eventually.)

I vaguely remembered that the plan was to either have a craftsman create it through divine guidance or, if that didn’t work, have it drop from the dungeon.

It seemed like having it drop from the dungeon was the more feasible option.

“If the dungeon drops the real thing, the craftsmen can probably recreate it, and they’ll be happy about that.”

Although, there was also a good chance I would acquire it myself while training in the dungeon.

With my luck as a hero, my chances of getting good drops seemed high.

“Now, if only I could get a bath. If a treasure chest with a bathtub drops, I’d be thrilled.”

My motivation for dungeon exploration was steadily increasing.

Though I had some material desires, I hoped they’d be forgiven.

I was happy with the magical weapons, but as someone from Japan, I warmly welcomed magical tools like this portable toilet room.

“Alright, let’s head to the sixth floor.”

By defeating strong monsters like floor bosses or rare variants, there was a high chance of getting treasure chests.

I could convert unnecessary items into points and was more than happy to receive useful magical tools and weapons.

I’d also love to enjoy some delicious meat, so hopefully, it would be a floor with four-legged magical beasts.

I placed my hand on the transfer door that appeared and poured mana into it.
