“Wow, as expected of you, Rey-kun!!”
The old slime came rushing over with the energy of someone about to hug me in gratitude. Luckily, he held back. Honestly, if he had hugged me, would it have felt like jelly?
Yeah… sorry about that. Guess I pushed a lot of work on you.
“Indeed, as expected of Lord Rey. Thank you for providing such magnificent monsters.”
“Man, I underestimated how particular Primilla is about her fields. Even though, like Pilkaya, I can’t maintain precise movements the more clones I create, she doesn’t hold back at all.”
It felt like I glimpsed an unexpected side of Primilla. Though, given her usual demeanor, it’s probably not surprising she pulls everything off perfectly.
“The growth rate is far faster than usual. On top of that, the nutrients in the soil are being carefully managed. It seems we might be able to mass-produce magic fruits.”
She’s definitely hyped up about this. Her voice is slightly louder than usual, and there’s more emotion in it.
“These fruits can be turned into magic recovery potions, right? How effective are they?”
“Unfortunately, it’s difficult to fully restore the magic of the Demon Lord, Pilkaya, or Rigma.”
“Well, I am the Demon Lord.”
“And we are the Four Heavenly Kings.”
“And I’m just an old man.”
That last bit is irrelevant. Still, if even Rigma can’t fully recover, it’s safe to assume the same goes for Primilla. However, unlike Fiona, drinking several bottles should restore her completely. Unless the recovery rate is absurdly low.
“So, what kind of numbers are we talking about?”
“Numbers, huh? You’re asking for something tricky. It’s not easy to measure your own magic, you know.”
“That said, I recall a recovery potion made from magic fruits before—it took about three bottles for a full recovery.”
“So, for anyone except Fiona, it recovers roughly a third of their magic?”
That means about 40 or so units, maybe? Assuming Pilkaya, the one with the highest magic, is the benchmark.
“Great, I’m left out again…”
“Don’t worry. If you drink around 250 bottles, you should recover as well, Lady Fiona.”
“Two hundred and fifty!? W-Well… but if it means completing a treasure chest… I could manage.”
“Please don’t. That kind of mass production isn’t possible.”
I’m not sure where she intended to go, but Primilla grabbed Lady Fiona by the scruff of her neck.
Is this really the Demon Lord? Well, to be fair, she does get serious when it counts, so maybe it’s fine.
“In that case, it’d be best to distribute a few to the Four Heavenly Kings, especially Pilkaya.”
“Got it. This way, we won’t have to worry about running out of magic in battle.”
“Pilkaya… there’s a treasure chest here. Care to pour some magic into it?”
“Lady Demon Lord, please refrain from leading your subordinates into evil deeds.”
How is the Demon Lord being scolded for misconduct?
Ah… I need to stop thinking like a human. If I don’t, I’ll end up no better than the ones who tried to kill me just for being a demon.
“That said, with my magic, I doubt it’ll produce a resurrection potion.”
“Hmph… in the end, it seems I must forge my own path.”
What she’s saying is great, but her “path” is just that of a gacha addict.
Thanks to Primilla heading back to the fields with a sigh, I ended up consoling Lady Fiona for a while. At least I didn’t get scolded.
“…As expected of Lord Rey.”
“No, seriously, I didn’t do anything…”
Primilla called me over, and when I followed her, I saw the field we had created, along with the monsters working there.
Or rather, not working.
It wasn’t that they were on a break or slacking off.
They simply had nothing left to do.
Because the field was already brimming with fruits.
“Growing this quickly isn’t normal, right?”
“No, and I’ve never seen fruits of this size before either.”
“Normally, they’re about the size of apples.”
“These are closer to watermelons. I’m worried they might taste bland, but since they’ll be used for potions, I guess it doesn’t matter.”
“Hmm… it seems the growth has been abnormal.”
“Probably the fairies and golems did their best to help.”
“Rather, it seems that because it’s gotten bigger, the amount of contained magic power has increased.”
Fiona-sama adds this, but I don’t really understand.
Since I can’t check the stats, I can’t sense it either.
“Then, let’s try making it into a potion.”
“Primilla, you can do that too? You can do anything, huh.”
“No. I haven’t been able to protect Lord Demon King as I should, and the restoration of the base has been left to you, Rey-sama. So, I’m just doing what I can.”
It seems there’s a lot she can do, but Primilla seems to have her own thoughts on the matter.
Even Pilkaya is looking for his own tasks while claiming it’s for the Demon Lord, and Rigma, despite his tendency to slack off, has been working the hardest in the inns and fields.
When I think about it, Fiona-sama is really liked by her subordinates.
“…If we can make a more effective magic recovery potion with those huge magic fruits, then in one day, maybe three, no, five, or even ten treasure chests…”
Perhaps it’s this kind of concern that makes everyone want to work for Fiona-sama.
Despite her overwhelming power, Fiona-sama remains as charmingly unfortunate as ever today.
“Crush the magic fruits with water magic, then concentrate the magic and absorb it into the water. That’s how it’s done.”
“…It really looks like you’re destroying everything in sight.”
“This water is under my control, so unlike before, it can absorb magic power without any leakage.”
It seemed like Primilla was suddenly going wild, but since everyone else was calm, that must be how she makes potions.
She can manipulate water freely, so this must be her method…
“Can Rigma do the same thing? Since he’s a slime.”
“Eh… would you want to drink a potion that’s gone inside my body? Plus, I’m made of mercury.”
“That would kill you.”
“Yeah, I guess it would…”
I wonder if I could make a trap by putting a little bit of Rigma’s split body into a bottle and storing it in a treasure chest…
No, if such a nasty trap got known, fewer adventurers would want to venture into the dungeon.
“It’s done. Now, Rey-sama, please have a try.”
“Me? Wouldn’t it be clearer if Pilkaya drank it?”
“This potion was made thanks to you, Rey-sama, so please go ahead and try it first.”
“Well, in that case, I’ll take you up on your offer.”
My current magic is 5, and my maximum magic is 38.
With a regular magic recovery potion, it should recover up to the maximum.
I check the numbers before drinking the potion.
The taste is surprisingly good. It’s more like fruit juice than what I’d expect from a potion.
“Now, let’s check the magic…”
Izumi Reiko
Magic: 105
Strength: 16
Techniques: 25
Endurance: 24
Agility: 17
This is definitely wrong.
What? Did it bug out? Did using some weird item cause a glitch?
“R-Rey, what happened? You look visibly flustered.”
“Could it be a change in your body? I’m sorry, could it be because of my potion…”
“No, it seems like my magic has been recovered above my original amount…”
It’s not like my power suddenly awakened and pushed my magic past 100, right?
If I think about it, my magic is probably still at its original value, and that potion just temporarily boosted it.
I wonder what will happen if I use up that magic.
“Create treasure chest.”
“Oh, a treasure chest.”
“I’ll give that one to Fiona-sama.”
“Hehe, thank you.”
The magic consumed is 5. If my predictions are correct, then the numbers should be…
Izumi Reiko
Magic: 100
Strength: 16
Techniques: 25
Endurance: 24
Agility: 17
I see now. It seems I’ve gone beyond my maximum magic limit.
Once I use some of it, the numbers will decrease. If my magic goes below the original 38, the display will probably stay the same.
…Wait a second. Couldn’t I customize the dungeon with this magic?
“Oh!? …W-What happened to my treasure chest…”
When I turned to Fiona-sama at her scream, the treasure chest I had just given her had disappeared in a flash of light.
What was that? I’ve never seen anything like that before.
Could it be that since I used more magic than my limit, the chest disappears after a set amount of time?
If that’s the case, I take back what I said. Unfortunately, it seems I can’t use this magic for dungeon construction…
If I made paths or rooms, could I bury intruders alive?
Nah, I’m good with traps. There’s no need to use the potion to make things like that every time.
Seeing Fiona-sama dejected, I decided to use up all the excess magic and then offer her another treasure chest.
