I cleared my throat and interrupted the conversation.
Well, I suppose it probably seems odd because I’m still tied to the values of my past life. But I don’t intend to change who I am at this point. If anything, maybe if I change everyone else’s values, I won’t stand out as much? As they say, “If you want to hide a tree, hide it in the forest.” It’s a complete act of defiance, but still.
Anyway, let’s get back to discussing the plan.
“For now, let’s return to the topic, but the key to this plan is the cooperation of the two of you.”
Both Wolf and Gregory, who had been in a different mood earlier, now looked at me with serious expressions.
“Unfortunately, the only map we currently have is this one.”
I dropped my finger on the map laid out on the desk. The others had already been copied and given to the merchant guild for distribution.
“We can’t give a map to every one of the sixteen divided squads. Therefore, we’ll assign one beastman who is familiar with the local area to each squad.”
After explaining this, Gregory nodded in agreement and hummed thoughtfully.
“Additionally, to efficiently manage all sixteen squads, we’ll need more knights, so we’ll assign experienced members from Gregory’s squad to each squad as coordinators.”
“I see. So, that’s why I was called here.”
I nodded in response to Gregory’s words.
“I’ll leave the coordination to Gregory. Also, Wolf, please start selecting the beastmen to assign to each squad in consultation with Gregory.”
“Understood.”
“Got it.”
The two of them agreed and stood up, promptly heading out to begin their work. After they left, I could hear their voices through the door as they began their discussion.
It seems like they’re working well together, which is a relief.
I picked up the tea set from the edge of the desk. It had already cooled, but it felt soothing on my dry throat as I sipped it.
At first, I had struggled to learn the proper etiquette for holding a tea set, but it’s amazing how you can adapt over time.
As I elegantly enjoyed my tea, Kurt leaned forward slightly and brought his face closer to me.
“Lord, what about us?”
He must have wanted a chance to be involved since he hadn’t been able to participate much in the conversation. I set my cup back on its saucer and turned to Kurt with a smile.
“We’re on standby.”
I sharply cut off Kurt’s hopes with a smile.
