“My magic power has finally reached 30…”
Izumi Reiko – Magic: 30, Strength: 14, Skill: 21, Toughness: 20, Agility: 17
I realized that my stats had gone up again.
This must be thanks to restoring the simple dungeon, allowing invaders and goblins to fight it out.
Praise be to the Dungeon Master. That goddess, claiming it was a fluke… What a great skill she has.
Well, I can understand what the goddess was trying to say.
She probably meant that the monsters and traps created in the dungeon were supposed to be made by the demon side.
But even so, those could have been useful for dungeon exploration. She was quite a prejudiced goddess.
“Since we’re at it, how about I just make it however I want this time?”
“Rey, are you serious? I’m looking forward to it. It’s sure to be an amazing dungeon.”
“Um… Sorry for interrupting, but if it’s too high a difficulty, won’t the country get involved?”
“It’ll be fine, right? They’re idiots, so they’ll probably just think it’s some place to show off their convenient powers.”
The beastmen are kind of like a brawn-over-brain group. Or maybe a race that just loves fighting.
Either way, they’ll probably keep challenging the dungeon even if it’s a little strange.
The real problem is that they might actually break through with just brute strength, but if I place an appropriate boss, they should be satisfied and leave.
Creating a Split Path: Magic Cost 5
If it’s a single path, there will be congestion from the invaders, so I’ll split the road.
But if it’s just a regular path, it’s not that interesting. Come to think of it, I can make something like this.
Oily Path: Magic Cost 5
Now, the beastmen who take this path will be slowed down because they won’t be able to maintain their footing.
Ideally, I’d want to trap them with monsters, but my own monsters would also have trouble due to the bad footing.
…Hmm, I could just place some monsters that are unaffected by this, right?
Poison Bats Creation: Magic Cost 5
Normally, low-level monsters like this would be easily taken down, but if they fly freely in such a tricky environment, they’ll definitely be annoying.
They also have poison, so they should serve as a good nuisance.
Ah, that’s right. I don’t have to stick to just monsters.
For traps, I might be able to wipe them out in places with bad footing.
…An oily surface trap, perhaps. Wouldn’t it be more effective under these conditions?
Fireball: Magic Cost 5
…Oops, I got a bit carried away with using magic.
I almost lost consciousness again.
Even though I thought I had a decent amount of magic power, it disappears quickly when trying to create a whole dungeon.
I still need more magic power. Or maybe I should speed up my recovery, or even find a way to store magic within the dungeon itself.
“Rey~. It didn’t work again~… Please make a treasure chest~…”
“Oh, okay. Got it.”
While I was lost in thought, I heard Fiona’s sad voice and instinctively created a treasure chest.
And just like that, my consciousness was once again swallowed by the darkness…
◇
“Yes… yes, I’m reflecting on it. Yes, I’m sorry…”
“Oh, you’re awake~?”
When I woke up, Pilkaya was peering at my face.
Behind her, Fiona was sitting upright, constantly apologizing, and Primilla was giving Fiona a lecture.
“Lord Demon King~. Rey is awake~!”
“Are you okay?! I’m so sorry… I should have thought before asking for it…”
“No, I was the one who used magic recklessly. I’m Fiona’s subordinate, so please ask me for anything at any time.”
“Rey…”
I seem to have developed a habit of buttering people up in moments like this.
It just came out naturally.
But Fiona seems to have a good impression of me, so it can’t be all bad.
“However, if Rey-sama loses consciousness, it will interfere with dungeon management. Lord Demon King, please don’t depend on Rey-sama too much.”
“I-I understand…”
But, you know, this is actually quite convenient.
Since there’s nothing I can do without magic, by the time I wake up again, my magic will be fully restored.
So, using all my magic, sleeping, and then waking up to do it all over again isn’t too bad.
…Well, Fiona and Primilla probably won’t forgive me for this, though.
“Anyway, the dungeon creation is still in progress, so I’ll continue it now.”
“Don’t push yourself too hard, okay…?”
“Yes, I’m fine. My magic has recovered while I was sleeping.”
Now, I had just split the path.
And on one side, the path was hard to walk, monsters were appearing, and there were traps—this path would be a challenge.
If that’s the case, most people will take the other path.
Well then, maybe I should place some appropriate rewards ahead on the oily path.
I’ll put a few treasure chests, and… since the beastmen love fighting, maybe they’d be happy to find a strong monster there?
Mid-tier Monster Creation: Magic Cost 10
Anyway, I’m planning to prepare a large number of fairly tough monsters, so I might as well try using this now.
Since I’ve recovered, I can use it three times. But, I’ll probably collapse by the third time and get scolded, so I’ll only use it twice.
The magic consumption is terrible… Maybe I should just use the dungeon’s magic instead.
I don’t think I’ll be able to pull a good monster with just two tries anyway…
This is bad. It seems like I’m starting to think like Fiona-sama.
Either way, I plan to create monsters multiple times, so I want to keep the dungeon’s magic as a backup.
I can’t afford to sink into the trap of endlessly summoning monsters.
“Still, I hope I can summon a good monster…”
Even if I hesitate, wasting magic would be foolish.
So, I’ll create mid-tier monsters twice.
Basilisk
Magic: 42
Strength: 11
Skill: 5
Toughness: 20
Agility: 39
Gargoyle
Magic: 51
Strength: 57
Skill: 47
Toughness: 65
Agility: 48
…This might be a win.
No, I shouldn’t think about it like winning or losing.
Thinking like that is dangerous—it’s how that goddess thinks.
The basilisk is a large, black, eight-legged lizard, and it seems to be different from the giant lizard that chased after me.
From its name, it seems like it might have poison, just like the Toxic Slime.
The gargoyle is a tough, demon-like creature with a stone body and a grim face. It looks incredibly durable.
Despite its heavy body, it seems it can fly with its wings. If I place it on the oily path, it would make a terrifying enemy.
…Of course, I don’t plan on making that path impossible to overcome.
In any case, both of these monsters should be more troublesome than those I’ve created so far.
And now that I’ve created them, I can summon the same type anytime, as long as I have the magic to do so.
Basilisk Creation: Magic Cost 10
Gargoyle Creation: Magic Cost 20
As expected, the gargoyle seems like a higher-tier monster.
So, the high-tier monster summoning, which will eventually be unlocked, will cost 20 magic at once…
I really want to work hard and make sure I can earn a lot of magic and experience points in this dungeon.
“…A gargoyle, huh? I’m getting better at creating stronger monsters.”
“Since it costs a lot of magic, I can’t make it too often, but it should be more than enough for placement deep inside, don’t you think?”
“Not as much as me, but it’s definitely good enough as a boss, right?”
It’s not on the level of the Four Heavenly Kings.
But that also means it can be easily defeated by heroes.
Beastmen are said to act recklessly, but if I go too far, a hero might show up.
I need to finish building the dungeon first and then observe what kind of people come here.
There are other things I’d like to try as well.
Like creating a maze—it uses the same amount of magic as high-tier monsters, so I’m expecting some results from it.
…Maybe I’ll try making just one spot to see how it works.
I need to understand its effects firsthand. Testing is important, after all, so I have no choice.
This is definitely not a waste of magic.
