I decided to label the wine I would sell under the name “Deuro’s Divine Liquor.” Word of Deuro-sama’s name would spread among wine enthusiasts, and soon, even their families would come to know it.
Eventually, I could consider selling a limited edition of this liquor, targeted at those who revere and worship Deuro-sama. But for now, the priority is to spread the name, focusing on raising awareness. A limited edition release will be a later step.
The labels for the different grades of liquor are as follows: the highest quality has black paper with silver lettering, the first grade has red paper with black letters, and the second grade has white paper with black letters. These labels will be mass-printed with movable type.
For the sealing of the bottles, I decided to use a special seal paper I created through conversion. The paper glows with the words “Deuro God” when magic flows through it. Once the seal is broken, it will no longer activate again. This cannot be handled by printing, so I will replenish the seals myself.
- Convert 1 kilogram of wood, 500 grams of sap, and 10 grams of magic stone into 1,000 sealing papers: 100 mana points
Magic stones can be obtained from monsters in the Ashwood Dungeon after the third floor. Since 10 grams is the smallest size of a magic stone, it’s relatively easy to acquire.
The sealing paper is long and narrow like a Tanabata wish paper, waterproof, and adheres strongly without the risk of coming off by mistake.
Around the end of the year in Japan, Father was preparing a special horse king (a type of horse) for a greeting to the Duke of Bayerline.
Meanwhile, I was preparing to try making a new kind of liquor. Although I called it new, it was just a distilled liquor, so not entirely novel.
“Master, is this good?”
“Yes. I think it looks great. Thank you, Bowman.”
I had asked the blacksmith Bowman (Ben’s father) to make a distiller. He had made several improvements, and now the final version was ready.
After bringing the distiller to the distillery, I immediately began the distillation process. I added the second-grade liquor and started distilling, collecting the high-concentration liquor. After repeating the process three times, the alcohol content exceeded 80%, far higher than even the best quality liquor.
Unfortunately, it was almost entirely alcohol, and the distillate itself wasn’t very tasty. So, it needed to be aged to improve its flavor.
I stored ten large barrels in my personal cellar. Inside, I kept some of the horse king liquor I had made during subsequent batches, all of it aging. In a few years, it should be much tastier.
Next, it was my turn.
I had prepared gravel from the river flowing through the village. I planned to use it to make glass bottles.
In this country, glass products are rare and expensive. Glass windows are used only in the houses of high-ranking nobles or castles in the royal capital. Though I’ve never seen a castle, the Lightstar family had them. Normally, wine and other alcohol are sold in wooden barrels.
However, I wanted to distinguish this particular horse king liquor, so I decided to make special glass bottles.
“Well, this turned out better than I expected.”
- Convert 1 kilogram of river gravel into 1 glass bottle (750ml): 50 mana points
Upon inspecting the glass bottle through information conversion, I learned the method for manufacturing glass. I wrote this down in my notebook. I plan to mass-produce glass bottles eventually, but I think it’s too early for that.
I filled the glass bottle with some of the best horse king liquor that had been aged, sealing it with the special seal paper. Although it wasn’t fully matured, it had developed a deeper flavor compared to regular premium liquor.
“Father.”
“Ah, Thomas. What’s the matter?”
When I entered his office, he smiled and gestured for me to come in.
“I’d like to present this to the Duke of Bayerline.”
I handed him a green glass bottle.
“What’s this!?”
Father looked surprised, never having seen anything like it before.
“Is this glass?”
“Yes, it’s a glass bottle. It was specially granted by Deuro-sama.”
“The god…!?”
Since I had used the Conversion skill granted by Deuro-sama, I wasn’t lying.
“Is something so precious really okay to give away?”
“The bottle contains horse king liquor made this past summer. It’s been aged a little, so I think it has a deeper flavor compared to regular premium liquor.”
“So the contents are valuable too…”
“This will be a gift for the Duke’s household. Let’s make a good impression by giving something truly unique.”
“The Duke of Bayerline is a man who treats those close to him with sincerity. You don’t need to go this far, but since Thomas has gone to the trouble, I’ll make good use of it.”
When the new year came, Father left on a journey to greet the Duke of Bayerline.
Though the straight-line distance to the Duke of Bayerline’s territory, Axel, is closer than to Lightstar’s Bald territory, crossing the river means the travel time doesn’t differ much.
And so, I turned eight years old.
