The curry made with the tail soup of a giant lizard-like monster was exquisite.
It was hard to believe that it was made by simply throwing a solid curry roux bought from a 100 yen shop into the pot, as it had such a deep, rich flavor. I devoured it enthusiastically, savoring each bite.
“Stews take time, but tail dishes are amazing.”
Not wanting to leave any of the tail curry behind, I used the salt butter bread I summoned from the shop to clean the plate, then shoved a piece into my mouth. Mm, it’s delicious.
I usually prefer curry with rice, but this tail curry goes really well with bread.
“The tail meat… it’s kind of addictive… It’s a bit like sinew meat in texture, so it might go well in oden too. Soft, tender sinew meat is the best, right?”
It would also be good in a red wine stew, but unfortunately, I don’t have any wine on hand.
Since I have canned tomatoes, I could try a recipe with a tomato sauce base instead.
If I were making curry or hayashi rice, it might be better to sear the meat in olive oil until it gets a nice crust, then simmer it slowly rather than boiling it beforehand.
“Well, lizard and semi-dragon monsters are probably pretty common in the Demon Mountains, so if I sense any nearby, I’ll hunt them.”
I almost got swept away by my appetite, but right now, I just want to get to my destination as quickly as possible.
The massive Demon Mountain is steep on the upper half, with exposed rocky cliffs standing out. According to my magic book, there are supposedly a few natural caves scattered around.
“If my level isn’t high enough to summon a house from a magic shop, I’ll use one of those caves as a base and wait out the rainy season. I’d like to have time to look for a cave, though.”
I had hoped the magic book would be as omnipotent as it seemed, but it didn’t give me any details like the cave’s location.
There’s nothing to be done. I’ll just search for it quietly.
“Well, if it comes down to it, I could just break through a solid rock wall with earth magic and create an artificial cave to use as a base.”
It would be a bit of a brute force approach, so it’s my last resort, but it might not be a bad option.
As long as there’s a ceiling and walls to shelter from the rain and wind, I could live comfortably in a tent blessed by the Creator God.
(Huh? If that’s the case, do I really need a house?)
I almost got carried away by the easy way out, but I managed to stop myself.
Because tents don’t have bathrooms or toilets. I’ve been using purification magic for bathing, and I’ve been hiding in the bushes for the bathroom. I really don’t want to have to sneak off with a shovel I summoned from the shop to go to the bathroom anymore.
Purification Clean magic doesn’t need paper, but when I’m trying to be cautious of monsters, it’s hard to relax enough to go.
“If I can get a container house, though, it’ll have a bath, a toilet, and a small loft bed, plus a wood stove! It’ll be way too comfortable.”
According to the description, just like the tent blessed by the Creator God, the container house would automatically create a barrier around a 30-meter radius, preventing monsters and magical creatures from entering and even deflecting magic attacks.
Unfortunately, it can’t stop humans or demi-humans from entering, but still.
“But, the buildings I summon come with a magical device that can obscure them, so if I get my hands on the right magic stones, I can hide them from others.”
The device is meant to conceal the whole building. The magic stones required are probably rare.
I usually convert everything into points, but maybe it’s a good idea to keep a few special magic stones or those from stronger monsters just in case.
“Alright, time to send the requested supplies for today.”
Lying in the hammock hung on a large tree inside the tent’s barrier, I tap my smartphone.
I’ve received requests from three people through the Creator God’s app “Hero Messenger.”
“Those guys are probably training in the dungeon right now. I think they’ll be fine, but…”
The one I’m most worried about is Haruto , who can be simple and quick-tempered. I hope they don’t rush into a reckless attack.
Natsuki is calm and cautious, so I actually trust them the most.
The one I’m quietly concerned about is Akimi.
Akimi is intelligent and strong, but they’re a nervous type—and, most concerning, they really hate bugs.
“Dungeons aren’t just full of monsters, right…?”
Insects that have been mutated by magical energy into giant magic bugs.
I worry about how calm Akimi will stay when faced with those ugly, huge creatures.
“I can only hope the dungeon they’re in is monster-heavy…”
I hate bugs too. Reptiles aren’t my favorite either. I’d prefer not to run into any snake-type monsters.
Thankfully, the Creator God’s protection is doing its job, so I plan to escape at full speed while I’m protected by the barrier.
It might be an action unworthy of a hero, but unfortunately, I’m just an ordinary person caught up in this.
I’m scared of snakes and magic bugs like cockroaches to the point that I might faint.
“…For Akimi’s mental well-being, I’ll just send them some insect repellent spray and bug-catching incense as a small comfort.”
Now, about the shopping requests.
All three have mostly ordered food items.
“Cup noodles, cup yakisoba, bagged ramen, pasta, and dried noodles. A lot of canned food too—saba fish cans, grilled chicken cans, and fruit cans. They’ve ordered a variety of rice packs, not just plain rice, but also red rice and seasoned rice.”
I tap and add items to the cart according to their requests.
There are also more ready-made curries, soups, risottos, and pasta sauces than usual.
Candy is a bit less, but they’ve ordered some chocolates, candy, and ramune sweets.
“Tea, juice, and sports drinks are also ordered in bulk. I guess there won’t be much time to enjoy tea leisurely.”
The large quantities are probably because of the knights who are accompanying them.
“And there are a lot of sweet buns, too.”
Apparently, the most popular sweet bun in this world is melon pan, followed by cream pan. I’ve heard apple pie is also popular.
By the way, Haruto and Akimi often request sausage buns. They seem to prefer savory buns over sweet ones.
Natsuki loves chocolate croissants, and I’ve heard that they spend all their leftover money on them during shopping. I understand; chocolate croissants are delicious.
Whether you eat them cold with firm chocolate or warm them up a bit for a crispy croissant shell with gooey chocolate, both ways are delicious.
By the way, melon pan in this world is apparently sold to the knights for one copper coin per piece.
Selling it for ten times the regular price—Haruto sure knows how to do business. I bet they tried to sell it for the original price and Akimi scolded them for it.
Since the prince isn’t with us on this dungeon boot camp, I guess the cup yakisoba is for us.
“Alright, shopping’s done! Good luck, future heroes!”
I send a small pot of tail curry to the item box, hoping it helps them on their camping trip.
To keep Akimi from worrying, I won’t tell them the meat is from a giant lizard’s tail.
