Chapter 12

The Artisan's Creation of Space

“Monster Creation. Monster Creation.”

The monsters that appeared were already summoned ones—two of them.

I guess it might be time to start working on creating mid-level monsters soon.

Poison Bat
Magic: 13, Strength: 15, Technique: 8, Endurance: 9, Agility: 38

Dungeon Crawler
Magic: 10, Strength: 23, Technique: 7, Endurance: 30, Agility: 19

Blood Skeleton
Magic: 25, Strength: 30, Technique: 26, Endurance: 21, Agility: 28

Zombie Warrior
Magic: 18, Strength: 33, Technique: 16, Endurance: 34, Agility: 22

Cobalt Hunter
Magic: 5, Strength: 22, Technique: 25, Endurance: 23, Agility: 29

Cobalt Lord
Magic: 7, Strength: 26, Technique: 30, Endurance: 28, Agility: 35

Goblin Soldier
Magic: 10, Strength: 25, Technique: 16, Endurance: 25, Agility: 17

Goblin Mage
Magic: 32, Strength: 10, Technique: 27, Endurance: 25, Agility: 24

Goblin King
Magic: 15, Strength: 30, Technique: 21, Endurance: 32, Agility: 20

Toxic Slime
Magic: 12, Strength: 4, Technique: 9, Endurance: 41, Agility: 28

The Cobalts and Goblins likely still have more varieties, but it’s starting to get repetitive. The rare Toxic Slime is the only one of its kind, but even then, there are multiple Kings and Lords among others.

“Rey -sama. I apologize for disturbing you. Were you in the middle of monster creation?”

“No, it’s fine. I’ve already finished.”

Primilla  arrived. It’s been a while since we started living in the dungeon, and each time we talk, she calls me by my name without honorifics, despite being told not to use polite language. As a result, I’ve come to speak this way with the Four Heavenly Kings, though I still feel a bit nervous about it. Fiona-sama seems to frown every time she hears it, so maybe as the Demon Lord, she prefers I speak more formally with the Four Heavenly Kings.

“The number of monsters has increased quite a bit.”
“Yeah, it looks like we’ll be able to equip a sufficient number in the grand hall, not just the initial room.”

“It’s filling up faster than expected. I was thinking of setting traps in the grand hall, but maybe I should leave that for later.”

“Since you’re Rey -sama, you could always create another new room if necessary. It’s incredible to think that you’ve managed to rebuild the dungeon in such a short time.”

“I don’t think I’m the one who revived the dungeon though…”

Primilla  keeps praising me so much that it’s a little embarrassing. Both Fiona-sama and Primilla  are a bit too generous with their praise.

“By the way, didn’t you have something to tell me?”

“Ah, yes. There’s something I need to advise the Demon Lord about. Would you be willing to accompany me, Rey -sama?”

“Sure, I can do that anytime.”

Fiona-sama is in the throne room now. We are at the dungeon’s center, so it’s not too far to go. But an “advice” from Primilla … Knowing her, it’s probably something important, and there’s a good chance Fiona-sama has done something wrong…

“Rey . Primilla . What’s going on? The two of you coming all the way to the throne room together.”

“I heard Primilla  has some advice for Fiona-sama, so I came along as well.”

“…By the way, Rey . You don’t need to add ‘sama’ to my name either, you know?”

“I think that might be a bit too casual… it doesn’t seem right…”

The conversation was about to veer off track, but Primilla  stepped forward, and Fiona-sama immediately adopted a serious expression, ready to listen.

“The magic in the throne has decreased too much.”

“Ugh…”

“Demon Lord-sama, you’ve been using it to recover your magic, right?”

“Y-yes, but… isn’t this supposed to be for recovering my own magic?”

The Demon Lord and the Four Heavenly Kings have a superior-subordinate relationship. Despite this, Primilla  doesn’t treat Fiona-sama with disrespect—if anything, she does the opposite. And yet… I can’t shake the feeling that Fiona-sama looks like she’s being scolded for something she did wrong.

“I remember the magic of the throne is meant for emergencies. Specifically, it’s something to use if the Demon Lord were to fight here and be at risk of losing.”

“If that’s the case, it should be fine for a while, right? We’ve already defeated both the human hero and the beastman hero! It’ll be peaceful for some time!”

“Even so, isn’t it a problem to waste it unnecessarily?”

“Yes… I’m sorry.”

I see, so it was wasted… mostly through the treasure chest gacha…

Fiona-sama’s stats are incredibly high, but I’m starting to think she might be a bit of a failure in other ways.

No, I shouldn’t think that. Her stats are about a thousand times higher than mine.

If I keep thinking like this, I wouldn’t be surprised if she turned me to dust in an instant.

“Um… it seems like Fiona-sama is reflecting on it, so maybe that’s enough.”

“…Rey!”

Maybe it’s because I tried to help, but Fiona-sama called my name with a pleased voice.

…Ah, I’ve made things worse. Primilla ’s gaze is definitely on me now.

“Rey-sama, you too.”

See? This is why it’s better not to get involved.

“If Rey-sama hadn’t created the treasure chest, the Demon Lord wouldn’t be wasting magic.”

“T-That’s not true! Rey only did it because I asked him to, so it couldn’t be helped…”

“Then the Demon Lord should exercise some self-control.”

No good. There’s no excuse left.

At this point, there’s only one thing I can do to resolve this.

“I’m really sorry…”

I could only apologize to Primilla .

“Fiona-sama.”

“What is it, Rey?”

“Let’s stop with the treasure chests for a while.”

“Eh!? W-Why…?”

Because I just got scolded.

Although I didn’t have to say that, Fiona-sama seems to have understood and sighed in resignation.

“If we continue like this, Primilla  will get angry… At least, is there any way to recover the magic of the throne?”

“Hmm… Like with the dungeon magic, the best way is to absorb magic from intruders, but increasing the number of intruders blindly is also a problem…”

Well, that makes sense.

Not just me, but Primilla  and Fiona-sama don’t fully understand what’s going on outside.

If we recklessly increase the number of intruders, the heroes from various countries might unite and flood the dungeon—then it’ll be a huge disaster.

“Besides, the entrance is already open. It doesn’t seem like there’s a way to increase the number of intruders further…”

Thinking about it, isn’t the current situation itself quite dangerous?

Should I close the entrance? No, if I do that, the dungeon’s magic, which has only recently started to increase, might decrease again…

“No, there’s another way.”

“Eh, we can still increase the number of intruders?”

“Yes, we can increase the entrance.”

“Entrance…?”

I don’t remember seeing such an option.

I’ve looked through the menu, but at least from what I can use with my magic, that option doesn’t seem available.

Could it be that I need more magic or certain conditions before this option is unlocked?

“This dungeon is called the Underground Demon Realm, after all. Right now, because it was devastated by the heroes, it’s barely got any space… yes, the heroes completely destroyed everything…”

“Get a hold of yourself! I’m here by your side, Fiona-sama!”

“R-Right… Rey belongs to me, after all!”

Fiona-sama… Is she traumatized by the heroes?

Well, her home was basically destroyed, so it’s understandable.

“Anyway, there’s still plenty of room to expand the dungeon. It’s a hassle, but very tiring, but if we carve a path through these walls, the dungeon will recognize the paths and rooms automatically and maintain them to some extent.”

Wow, so that’s how it works…

I thought we could only create rooms and paths in already hollow areas…

Wait, maybe my menu can apply to more areas than I thought?

I did see some one-way paths other than forks.

“One-way path creation: Magic cost 3.”

This is it. I thought it was just an option for leveling the ground, but if I’m right…

“Rey. What’s wrong?”

“Fiona-sama, I might be able to create paths.”

“Eh, paths…?”

It seems she doesn’t fully understand, so I’ll try it out. Since the magic cost is just 3, it’s not too much for me, so I’ll try creating a path deeper into the throne room… to the dead end.

“Ah, I can do it after all.”

“Eh!? Amazing! Creating paths is something even I find troublesome and tiresome… As expected of Rey.”

For me, I can do it with just a finger and a bit of magic.

It seems like this power is more convenient than I initially thought.

“By the way, what should we do with the path ahead?”

“Ah, well… Since we have the chance, it would be good if it leads to a spacious area suitable for battle.”

I see. The throne room is decently spacious, but if we fought here, the room would likely get destroyed.

If it were the old Fiona-sama, she probably would have wiped out the enemy instantly, so there wouldn’t have been any flashy battles. But now, it looks like a place to fight seriously is needed.

“Once my magic recovers, I’ll make the grand hall right away.”

“Don’t overdo it, okay? Your power is truly amazing. I don’t want to lose you.”

I’m grateful that she says that.

It seems like my original purpose, being a useful tool, is being fulfilled.

From now on, I’ll keep using this skill so that Fiona-sama doesn’t give up on me.
