It seems that Kamui has already taught Alisa some magic.
In other words, I’ll be learning as her junior.
I had assumed that Kamui was the one teaching, but apparently, that’s not the case.
When it comes to magic skills, it appears Mel is more adept than Kamui, so she handles the basics for theoretical studies. Kamui is responsible for physical training and practical combat using magic.
I was hoping to observe their practice right away, but it seems today’s session has already finished.
So, I’ll start studying with Alisa tomorrow.
“Since we’re at it, let’s have a welcome party once you’re settled in.”
Guided by Mel, I walked through the mansion.
Apparently, there are extra rooms in the house, so they’re letting me use one entirely for myself.
The room assigned to me was on the right after going upstairs—a new space to call my own.
“Sorry for barging in so suddenly…”
“It’s fine, really. I’m the one who told Kamui to check on you since I was curious.”
“Is that so?”
“I sensed a magical energy I’ve never felt before.”
I have no idea how, but it seems Mel can perceive the amount of magical energy I possess.
I had mostly focused on Kamui, but it appears Mel is quite skilled with magic too.
“This will be Kuhn’s room.”
When she opened the door, I saw a room lined with what appeared to be antiques.
Judging by the dust covering everything, it seemed like it had been used as a storage room.
“Cough, cough… Looks like I’ll need to clean it up a bit.”
Mel prepared herself with a feather duster and mask, then, with a flick of her finger, she said, “Mini Cyclone.”
A gust of wind blew through the room, and in an instant, the dusty haze that clouded my view cleared up entirely.
“Huh?”
Not only was the air free of dust, but even the dust that had settled on surfaces had vanished.
Looking down, I noticed a small gray pile of dust on the floor that hadn’t been there moments before.
“Was that… wind magic?”
“Yes~ I created a mini tornado to gather up the dust and compressed it all at once.”
The method was similar to a cyclone vacuum cleaner, but generating that amount of wind speed must require skill, not to mention a filter or something to contain it.
Furthermore, she must have set up a barrier to prevent the dust from blowing back at us.
Creating wind, forming a filter, and setting up a barrier to keep the dust at bay—how many spells did she use at once?
It might seem simple based on the outcome, but with my knowledge of modern technology, I could grasp the complexity of Mel’s magic.
“Seems like you have potential.”
Mel turned and gave me a slight smile.
Her expression hadn’t changed, but the way I looked at her had.
I swallowed, understanding her mastery… I was trembling, not with fear but with exhilaration at the thought of learning under someone so skilled.
“My, my… quite promising, indeed.”
She repeated, with a slightly different tone.
I resolved internally not to disappoint her expectations.
“I’ll bring some furniture as well. Let me go pick out a few things…”
“Oh, no, that’s alright.”
Not planning to hide anything from my new mentors, I activated my inventory spell, summoning my usual furniture from a subspace.
I began setting up an assembly bed, a closet, and other items, and I could hear Mel gasp behind me.
“Spatial magic…”
It seems my inventory spell managed to catch her interest.
Seeing her curious gaze, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride.
“No wonder Kamui took an interest in you.”
She said to wait until they prepared for the welcome party, so I settled into the room.
It was still only 4:30 p.m., so there was some time before dinner.
Since there wasn’t much else to do, I began my daily magic practice and meditation.
Magic requires a strong mental image.
To form one instantly, you need a kind of imaginative quickness, which is why I believe meditation is effective.
“…”
I sank into a trance, sharpening my senses and losing myself to the silence.
Sitting cross-legged with my eyes closed and my focus honed, I shut out all sounds from the world.
Due to my young body, my concentration during meditation doesn’t last long.
After what felt like twenty minutes, I continued by practicing the circulation of magical energy through my body.
I’ve grown used to the odd sensation, almost like juggling energy within my body, as I alter its flow and speed.
For the past few years, I haven’t been able to practice advanced magic, so I’ve focused on increasing my base abilities to strengthen my spells as much as possible.
I pride myself on keeping up with these foundational exercises daily.
“Come here~”
Mel’s voice called from afar, and I stopped my energy circulation, standing up.
Is it that time already…
