Chapter 2

Well, first I want to decide my goal.

As the boy awoke in a white space, he saw two people in front of him.

…His body wouldn’t move as he wanted. So… I’ve really been reincarnated.

He could barely move his body, feeling as though he was being held. In front of him stood a handsome young man and a woman who could easily be called beautiful. He understood that these two were his new parents.

Tears shimmered faintly in their eyes. The boy thought he was blessed to have good parents once again, just like in his previous life.

After exchanging a few words, his parents tilted his body to show him something.

There were three boys and two girls.

…No way. One, two, three, four, five… Five boys and girls. Judging by their hair color, similar to his parents’, he guessed they were his siblings.

He didn’t mind having siblings, but… how did they have six children and still look so young?

The boy couldn’t hide his surprise at the mismatch between his parents’ youthfulness and the number of his siblings. However, being a newborn, his expression didn’t change much.

The eldest brother was probably around seven or eight… This was hard to process, but it seemed like a warm family, so he had no complaints.

Satisfied with what looked like a comfortable life, he surrendered to the drowsiness that overtook him.

Three months after his reincarnation into this world, the boy learned a lot. First was his name, Lagas—more precisely, Lagas Lisette. Having a family name here signified nobility.

His father’s rank was baron, though the boy didn’t fully grasp whether that rank was high or low.

However, when he rode in a carriage with his parents and saw his father’s domain, he understood he was living more comfortably than commoners.

There were aspects of this world similar to a certain game he knew in his past life, with weapons he had never seen in reality, only in imagination, as well as magic and abilities that could be learned through training.

These words thrilled him, though he showed no emotion, feeling excited about the possibility of learning magic and abilities soon.

However, knowing there were tools and skills capable of taking lives meant there were beings to use them against. Unlike his previous world, wars between countries here weren’t so rare even now.

Yet, the main targets for weapons and magic were monsters—beasts that could also be described as magical creatures.

There were many types, with physiques differing from humans. Monsters, like humans, could wield weapons, magic, and abilities. Essentially, when monsters spotted humans and believed they could win, they would attack.

Some would even abduct women, use them as vessels, and force them to bear offspring.

And so, a profession existed to hunt these monsters—hunters, who, while tasked with various duties, primarily took on monster-hunting quests.

There were also labyrinths, places filled with both treasure and danger, and conquering these was another duty of hunters. Being the fourth son of a baronial family, Lagas didn’t see much chance of inheriting the family estate.

Thus, he had no need to stay at home after coming of age and was already planning to become a hunter as soon as he graduated from school.

Having gathered a good deal of information about this world, Lagas would gesture to his father, mother, or a maid to read monster encyclopedias to him whenever he found the time.

He never expected such convenient resources, but his father, Litt, had once been a hunter himself with his grandfather’s permission. This meant the family had a few books on hunters and labyrinths, though not many.

While looking at illustrations of monsters and listening to descriptions, Lagas sensed something stirring within him—a feeling that arose three times.

He felt something inside him stir, though not with every species mentioned in the books, only with some.

He would come to understand this feeling in a few more years.

A boy who died after a steel pillar struck his head is granted reincarnation into another world by a god. Reborn as Lagas, the fourth son of a noble family, he discovers he has no aptitude for elemental magic—a rare situation for a noble-born child. This often led to others looking at him with pity. However, Lagas possessed a form of magic far beyond the capabilities of elemental magic. "Sigh... having elemental magic—is that really such a big deal?" Generally laid-back, Lagas prefers not to stand out, though he’s the type to accept any challenge head-on. Now, just how many people will face the bruising of their pride...?
